We are in the early stages of looking for a timeshare to purchase on the east coast. We would like something between Virginia beach and Myrtle beach. We live in central PA and wouldn’t mind the drive to that area.

This timeshare would be used for family gatherings most likely around the holidays. We are looking for a four or five bedroom unit. Middle of the road, clean resort is what we are looking for.

We would welcome any suggestions for a reasonably priced resort to buy along the east coast beaches.

Thanks!

I think there are very few 4 br units on the beach in that area. Wyndham may have some 4 br units in Myrtle beach but I think they are very limited like maybe 1 or 2 units per resort and they take a lot of points and are very hard to reserve.

Beachwoods in the Outerbanks (although off the beach) does have some 4 br units I believe. I just looked and it seems Barrier Island Station-Duck in OBX also has some 4 br units.

Off the beach Williamsburg and Massanutten are going to have easy to find and reasonably priced 4 br units.

I can't think of any 5 br's in that area.

To second what tschwa2, Wyndham at The Cottages, RCI 7440, are 3 and 4 bedrooms.

To get those you it would probably be easiest if you request an exchange into it using either Wyndham club points or RCI points. With points (whether RCI or Wyndham points), you're are not guaranteed a particular week, it's based on availability. But, especially for early to late August, I have personally seen plenty of availability.

I have never seen regular weeks for sales at that resort in the resale market.

The cottages are only 3 blocks from North Myrtle Beach.

Another possibility is buying two 2bdr weeks at Plantation Resort, RCI 4220. They also have 3bdr weeks for sale. Buy only resale, of course. I've seen plenty of weeks for sale at that resort. The resort is located about 10 minute drive from the beach, has plenty of activities, a big size kiddie pool area, an adult pool, and an indoor pool. They have a shuttle to/from the beach, which runs 9 to 4pm. On the hour to they go to the beach, on the half hour they come back from the beach.

Plantation resort is in Surfside Beach, SC, which is the town on the south side of Myrtle Beach. I like Surfside Beach because it is much less crowded than Myrtle Beach, and therefore you are much less likely to run into trash that someone else left behind. The downside is that there is less to do in the form of restaurants, shows, etc.

Of the two, I like Wyndham better. It is more expensive, but they have everything that Plantation Resort has, and they are closer to the beach.

It may or may not be easier to find 2 two bedroom units for the same week at the same resort but it would certainly open up more resorts and locations to consider.

If Massanutten and/or Williamsburg are options the OP would consider, I've seen many 4bdrs for sale on eBay on the cheap.

Of the two places, I like Williamsburg the best because it has more things to to do and places to visit, and in Williamsburg I'd consider buying Williamsburg Plantation, The colonies, and Kings Creek Plantation for the value they provide in comparison to their MFs and how much they cost to initially buy.

I think there was a 4bdr Kings Creek Plantation being given away in the bargain section not too long ago.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have seen a few reasonable 4 bedrooms in Williamsburg area which is what started us thinking about the possibility of a larger unit along the ocean within driving distance. We may have to expand our geography to include the Williamsburg area.

Thanks again for the input!
