We checked in today and were delighted to hear that at Great Smokies Lodge, they have done away with the "4 account restriction" on free WiFi here. It is truly free and open. What a relief not to have to parcel out which 4 devices would get access!

Hope this spreads to the other resorts, it is one of the biggest issues we have traveling with our very connected family...

(BTW, who cares how long your snapchat streak is? If you don't know what I'm talking about, you probably don't have a teenage daughter.)

Great!! We have a reservation there in September, so this is good news indeed!

How far are you from the Vanderbilt Biltmore Estates located in Asheville, NC ?

How far are you from the Vanderbilt Biltmore Estates located in Asheville, NC ?

It's approximately 90 miles away and the estimated travel time is 1 hour and 45 minutes. I would advise you to do not consider this trip during the winter due to the possibility of snow. You would have to travel over some high elevations to travel there.

We're visiting in a couple weeks. I carry a very small travel router configured with the same network name as at home. Once I hook it up and log in, everyone else connects just like they're at home with no need to do anything else (and there's no worry about how many are connected).

Does anyone know if Costco in the area sells discount admission tickets for Biltmore?

Gatlinburg to Asheville

We took the scenic route
across Rt 321 to Route 40

(You can also drive thru the Great Smoky Mountain
Park 321/441 S to Cherokee, East 19 toward Rt 40)

Spent the weekend at an all suite hotel in Asheville.

From Asheville we took Route 40 East to Durham
I-85 Northeast to Petersburg Va then 95 to 64.
It took us longer than average since we stopped
at Lake Lure to check out Wyndham timeshares.

Asheville

Friday, we did a Self-Guide tour of interior of the Biltmore.
Saturday we strolled through their breathtaking gardens.
Mid afternoon we visited the award-winning Biltmore winery.
Visited the Inn on Biltmore Estate, had a late lunch/early dinner

Later, we returned to the Biltmore Mansion
to tour the first, second, and third floors again
(using an audio device) stayed until 8 PM.

We were very impressed with the Biltmore
house, gardens, winery and the natural beauty
of the property and surrounding mountains.

It would be much easier for you to spend the
night in Asheville than to drive back and forth
to the Gatlinburg - Pigeon Forge area.

Limit was alive and well at Governor's Green this week. This was my first Wyndham stay since they imposed this change. I found it very annoying - not by the limit (I was by myself and had only one device) but each and every time I got on the network I had to say "no" to upgrading to the paid service.
