We are planning a trip for 2017 that would include a timeshare stay in Estopona, a cruise out of Barcelona and a escorted bus tour through southern Italy. Can anyone recommend a good bus tour company that specializes in Italy?

Thanks
Ed

You might take a look at www.gate1travel.com You can schedule the flights before and after whenever you want if you choose to buy flights from them or you can buy land only. We were very impressed with the 4* (and up) hotels that are included, and there are always lots of people who have toured with Gate 1 before so that speaks well of the company also.

With gate 1, it is more an independent tour and my brother used it to go to Florence, Venice and Rome but with trains not bus between the cities. If you want a guided bus tour, I had used Insight tours, globus / Cosmo, trafalgar and contiki when I was younger.

I have absolutely no experiences to add, but I just wanted to say I'm glad to see you here again! Plus, it sounds like a great trip.

Tauck is a great travel company (although pricey), and they do land tours as well as the river tours. Everything is covered and it's always very safe. I'd say they're at least worth checking into.

Hi Ed, good to see a post from you again.

Parillo Tours is well thought of, and started in Italy. www.parillotours.com/

Your 'Grand European Tour' looks pretty ambitious. Try not to overdo. It's tempting to ty to see everything when the sites are so (relatively) close together, but trust me- day after day of seeing cathedrals, palazzo's, museums, art, and they all run together.

Happy Travels......

That's not true unless that's what you purchase. They do fully guided tours with the same tour manager with you for the entire time. At the bottom of their page, they also list "Independent Tours." We did an independent one with them to Iceland (and purchased their tours for the circle tour and northern lights over and above the air/lodging part of the tour), and we did a fully guided tour of Croatia (also did a river cruise, but that, of course, was different).

Thanks for all the reply's. I do appreciate it.

MuranoJo and Passepartout, Thanks for the kind words. I do miss the timeshare trading chase and TUG, but cruising, getaways, hotel stays when on the road, Garden Valley and Sun City West does not leave much time for home in 'the city of trees' and reading TUG. Now back to the shadows and planning the next big trip.

I know the feeling. We are splitting our time among the 'City of Trees' condo, about 3 cruises a year, home, and too many timeshare weeks. Whew!

I can't say enough good things about www.privatetourinitaly.com. We had tours in Rome, the Amalfi Coast, and Pisa/Florence last year. Three different days, three different drivers and all were fantastic. Might seem pricey for some, about 400 euros/day, but we were on a once in a lifetime trip. Private tours at the Vatican and Vesuvius. Absolutely spoiled us. We want to save our money and go back some day. We met them each day at our port as we also did a seven day cruise out of Barcelona. Another great city!! Have a great trip!!

(Wow, I need to read the OP post better. My reply wasn't really on topic. Sorry.)
