I am very sure this has been asked before, just need the quick answer.

If I credit pooled my 2016 points, them made a reservation for a 2016 date, then decide to cancel.... will the points still be good until the expiry credit pool date (2018) or will they only be good in 2016 (use year).

I have a EOY even contract.

"If you cancel a reservation 15 days or more in advance of the check-in date, your points will be returned as Regular Use Year Points" - from the Wyndham website.

I as always appreciate the insight.

It depends - what was the date you made your reservation (not the check in date, but the actual date you placed it)?

Reservation placed around 12/2/15. Points credit pooled on about a week prior (end Nov) before making reservations for both this and points I had to use for a trip in Dec for the rest of my 2015 points (from prior credit pool)

So since the reservation was made after the changes earlier this year, and the points came from the credit pool, they should go back to the credit pool. From what I've read it hasn't worked correctly every time, but a call in would likely fix it.

Keep reading the section on cancellations on the website and you will see this

If a reservation is booked using Pool Credits and is cancelled, points will return to the Points Credit Pool as Pool Credits and will take on the expiration date of the original Pool Credits.
