What is the closest airport to Newport Beach?
Sorry BUT I could not disagree more. By taking hwy 73 to Newport coast drive you'll drive about 2 miles on a toll road at the cost of over $3. To me it make a lot more sense to take the great surface streets from the resort to the MacArthur exit/entrance on Hwy 73 and save the $3 each way.Orange County, also called John Wayne. We were there last week. The airport code is SNA.
It's just 12 or 15 minutes. It's easiest to take the 73 toll road. You may want to set up a toll road account in advance, because we used the toll road every day going in to Orange County. Go the thetollroads.com.

Thanks for the info. I'm from Houston, so I was just doing what that lady in the Garmin told me to do.
Would you use San Joaquin Hills Rd. to MacArthur? And then is it best to get on 73, or just stay on MacArthur to the airport?

Speaking of the Pavilions grocery store, if you tell them that you are staying at the Marriott, they have a code to put in so that you get the "Club Price" for things that are on sale.
Yes the closest is SNA (John Wayne), however there are several airports that are within driving distance. Long Beach, LAX, Ontario, and even San Diego. It really depends on where your coming from, whether you want a direct flight, and the cost. SNA is usually the most expensive. Also the time of day should be factor to consider. Although LAX is about 35 miles you don't want to get stuck in morning or evening traffic.
I would suggest you look at all the alternatives. The closest order would probably be SNA, Long Beach, Lax, Ontario, and then San Diego....
