I have 850 bonus points that expire in December. I am wondering how to handle this, or if it's even worth the trouble.

If I reserve a studio, let's say 4 nts at DSV or MGV, can I legally rent that studio to anyone and simply add their name to the reservation? I am pretty sure I have read that you legally can.

Are the DC points worth trying to rent directly?
What are your suggestions?

If not for a reservation that you can either use, give to family/friends, or rent out; how about travel insurance for 2016? I think you have enough points.

Thanks.

Didn't know you could buy travel insurance using DC points. I poked around and could not find a link on the M-DC website.

I wonder if I could insure a Canyon Villas trip that I got through an II exchange set for next April.

Don't know if you are a golfer.....but in the past at least, if you call a VOA, they can provide you with golf certificates that are valid into the future, but can be purchased with current year points.

Can you book a trip then deposit it into Interval and use it to go someplace else later? I have no idea, but I'm wondering

I used 700 expiring VC points to buy insurance for 2016. Although it is cheaper to pay cash, I had no other use for the points for the remainder of the year. This will only cover vacations with 2016 weeks, but if you exchange or convert 2016 weeks to a future year it will be covered in the year you take the trip. You should clarify this with Vacationguard, but I don't think you previous exchange will be covered unless you have insurance for 2015.

You can also make a reservation and rent it to someone. I've done that before and is one reason I convert to points rather than exchange through II. Banked points can be used for reservations that are then rented out. Good luck.
