I was fortunate enough to have a business client sell me his 5000 Las vegas HGVC, but decided to see if we could add on points or if we might be interested in purchasing more points directly through them..

First things first, we were with an elite member this week and he had to wait for his room until after 4pm ( thought that was avoidable with elite status)..

Loved Parc, and now down at Seaworld HGVC finishing out the week.

Presentation was a "Hard Sell" .. They wanted almost 5k down (they had a program to finance that through Amex card)...

I told them I had a resell 5k points already and didn't want to add on and pay two MF's.

After we declined she brought the manager over, he did his spiel (almost seems like when they know you aren't buying they start to get ugly).. Which was so different from the smiling cheerful people we met on the way in.

The second guy ( the last resort guy ) tried to sell us a program to keep the quoted rates good for a year , plus 7,000 points to use in select resorts, for $1800.00. We declined that also.

I'm happy about the way we purchased and glad we didn't pay the high developer prices.

Bottom line is it was a high pressure (not as high as some others) but still uncomfortable at the end..

What did they offer for attending?

Yeah, like it's worth what they leave on your night-stand for the honor of having your ears boxed while on vacation. <sarcasm>
,

They gave us 2 $50 Visa cards (Ironically the cards were already expired had to go back and get replaced, but that is an honest mistake).

Hummmm...I'm not so sure about that.

I agree, this sound suspicious. It could have been an honest mistake but think about it: how many folks get the card and keep it until return home where they discover that the card is invalid? These same folks then complain about timeshares and all of the horror stories about how they were duped into buying uninformed, including that the "gift" was not really worth anything.

Just a thought. After all, you caught it in time to confront them. How many other cards passed into unsuspecting hands and were not replaced? :ponder:

We vow not to go to any more presentations!

This is what they call the "VIP" package and I think is a good deal. The 7,000 points get you a 2BR platinum season room for a week at any HGVC property. Not bad if you consider that at one of the Hawaii locations. And there are no strings attached to that - just use it within a year or whatever dates they tell you and attend another hour presentation during your stay.

I'm pretty sure he said they were valid in only a select few locations... like 6 or 8... But I could be wrong..

We bought the VIP package as a trial look at the program, instead of buying the presentation deal. It turned out very well for us. Yes we did have to go to another presentation. We said no and came home and bought resale. Back to the Vip . We got 4 nights at the Grand Waikian(sp) and 3 night at Kings Land. I never thought we could afford a Hawaii vacation. Fortunately I also had accumulated airline miles for free flight. Now I bought Bay Club and will go to Hawaii often. We are taking our 1st Bay Club trip in 30 days. Any Bay Club owners out there that would like to be my new friend? Ouch that sounds weired.

This is how we got started in TSs. Attended presentation at PS. Bought the VIP package, came home, rescinded and used money to purchase our current TSs. BTW, no pressure whatsoever from salesperson - guess it depends on who you get.
