Quick Help with Bluegreen Points Purchase

I'm hoping someone can quickly answer a couple of questions I have about a Bluegreen resale package. First, we are not owners yet. We had purchased a package through a presentation and then quickly rescinded. I have spent a lot of time researching resale, but I still have a few questions. And unfortunately, I need answers quickly because the bidding ends in just a couple of hours. Here are my questions:

1) Our plan was to buy a small points package through Pinnacle and then add additional points through other resale options (ebay, etc). We haven't purchased the package through Pinnacle yet, but see a points package that is what we would be looking for that is on ebay right now. Is it a problem to buy this package first, and buy from Pinnacle later - or is there a reason we should buy from Pinnacle first? Would there be any problems linking the two together?

2) This package has the following details listed:

Sales Type Y
Trust Fund E

Unit 2104X, Week 10
Unit 2203X, Week 28
Unit 5107X, Week 31/32
Unit 5508X, Week 52

Does that mean that we would be guaranteed reservations for those weeks if we called at 11 months out? I'm confused with that because I thought there was only one week that you were guaranteed (the week that you purchased), and yet this has a few weeks listed.

3) Just confirming that Bonus time is only available at the home resort through resale, but would then be available anywhere once we buy a small package through pinnacle.

Thank you for any help/insight you can give. I have been reading so much for the last six months, but now that we're considering pulling the trigger, I feel like I've forgotten everything I learned! We were going to go through Pinnacle first, but I found a property deeded at the Fountains, which is what I want.... so I'm wanting to pull the trigger even though I'm still nervous. Yikes!

For Bluegreen - points are points. Yes you can get your home week that is deeded at 11 months, but it is really not necessary unless it is New Year's week - Week 52 sometimes (note - I still see availability for New Year's week right now at the Fountains for that week and we are 5 months out). The only one that would need Home Week priority is Branson - Big Cedar.

Yes, you can buy a small package through Pinnacle to get bonus time, but is it actually worth it? It would be for 45 days out and based on availability.

You can do the same thing by buying small contracts at those locations. Most Bluegreen contracts are given away for free or minimal cost.

Prime locations - like beach locations in the summer will be very few for bonus time.

Due note that Bluegreen has been ROFR (Right of First Refusal) - taking back some units.

It took me three times before I got Fountains.

It depends on how many points you're getting. Most likely, it's a day or two out of each of those weeks, so you would not be able to book the entire week.

Thank you so much for your reply! I did know that Bluegreen has ROFR, but I guess I wasn't sure how much they actually exercise it. I guess that is a bit of a concern should I want to sell years from now. They could actually refuse the sale? That is certainly a concern.

One other question, if I were to buy a really small points package, what would be the cost to reserve a unit for extra time (beyond the points available) if it is not bonus time? So if I wanted to book a week at the fountains, but only had 7k points, what would be the cost to book the additional days?

Thanks for the help. For as much reading as I have done, I still feel a bit confused.

It is 40k points Biennial, so 20k per year. Thanks for your reply!

Here is the link for all the Bluegreen properties points needed.

Sunday through Friday are the less expensive points.

Friday and Saturday are the most points.

For Orlando, most Bluegreen Owners will book at Sunshine Resort (less points) instead of Fountains. Sunshine Resort will book up before Fountains during prime weeks.

Thank you for the info! So basically, if you don't have enough points you can't make the reservation - right? Say I have 7k points, but the reservation I would like requires 12k. Can I book the additional 5k needed by paying for them? And I don't mean through bonus time, I mean at the time I make the original reservation.

You can book a partial week with the points you have (minimum 2 days) and wait it out to hope you get the bonus.
