Ko Olina unlimited drink mug

I would bet that a call to the platinum desk might result in a 35 credit to you account. Worth a try.

$35 credit since they no longer offer the unlimited drink mug?

I think 500 MR points for platinum elites is now the policy of all the Hawaii Marriott vacation club properties, at least Maui & Ko'Olina. Most vacation club properties have offered only the 500 points for quite awhile. I don't recall ever receiving a platinum welcome gift at a vacation club property, only the points.

Most likely I'm confused but it's the "much more difficult to get 7 Elite Nights ..." that's throwing me off. It's not difficult to get the Nights if you're eligible.

I took scpoidog's comments to mean that he/she is not chasing elite nights like many are....so for some, who may be searching to find every possible way to earn elite nights, which can often be "difficult" to accumulate enough to earn Platinum status, for him/her they have no value, so he/she would prefer the mug as that actually has value to him/her.

I get that, I do! But the choice was never Elite Nights or a mug, it was 500MRP or a mug. Maybe scpoidog can suggest to MI (not MVW) that the Lifetime Plat Elites should be able to accumulate something other than Elite Nights now that they're not needed anymore.

I agree that every situation if different and no one like a benefit taken away. I stay at Marriott hotels at least as much as timeshares. The room upgrade and concierge lounge access (or free weekend breakfast) is the benefit for Platinum membership (to me). Any timeshare benefit is a recent addition and the timeshare/hotel breakup can make that short lived.

I would bet that a call to the platinum desk might result in a 35 credit to you account. Worth a try.

Now I'm even more confused! Why is s/he due extra compensation after being given the 500MRP Arrival Gift?!

I am not a platinum lifetime member but the last 5 years I have been a platinum member. The platinum support has the ability to make certain manual adjustments for points and elite night credits after the stay. Often they are customer sat issues more than program, issues. I once had a challenge at a hotel that the hotel manager blew me off on. The platinum support desk handled the situation after, I have not done this often but when I have, I have been pleasantly surprised.

I would call the platinum number for Marriott, explain the situation and see if they could/would assist. They might have the discretion to issue you a credit if you purchase the mug.

I think you're confusing two separate things. Elite Night credits are given to every Marriott Rewards member for all eligible Marriott stays; the Arrival Gift is a benefit for only Platinum MR members. This thread is about how MKO has stopped offering a re-fillable mug or anything other than 500MRP as an Arrival Gift. As a Lifetime Plat you should be getting the Elite Nights AND the 500MRP Arrival Gift. :)

I was just referring to the l1040z's comment that when he first got his timeshare that the elite nights, arrival points, and the arrival, gift weren't perks, but became perks and one was recently taken away. As I said, some perks are more valuable to some than others, depending on your situation. As stated before, I'm lucky enough that I don't have to worry about elite nights, so a plastic mug is worth more to me than 10 elite nights for my stay. I bet there are many folks out there that would gladly pay $35 for those nights.

I don't have a chip in my shoulder or feel entitled to anything and won't be asking the platinum line for anything.

I think we need to keep things in perspective. I've been in paradise for over a week and have had a great time at a fantastic resort. Life's pretty good!!! Except for Wed when I have to fly home :(

Side comment- met up with Frank808. He is truly an expert on Ko Olina and a great Tugger.
