Hi,

I found the forum this morning and all I can say is WOW what a great resource and such helpful members.

What I've been reading has both inspired me and confused me! So I have a few questions.

I am in the process of buying a week at my local Marriott beach club (marbella) via resale, this is purely for access to the day passes and I then intend to trade the weeks.

I live in Europe and I visit Las Vegas and Orlando regularly.. so I would like to also get a resale in both places I would probably like to do a week in one and a week in the other back to back (outside school term)...

Any recommendadions what would be the best way to do this.. random resorts or look for a good resort in both from the same company??

I know i can't get access to the Marriot's points system via a resale But are there other companies that would allow me to gain points from a resale?

You can always rent timeshare weeks in either one of those two places with relative ease and for little or no more money (sometimes even less) than the annual maintenance fees of ownership would cost. Accordingly, why bother to try to find and buy "back to back" weeks in two entirely different geographic locations?

Additionally, renting would afford you the option of choosing different weeks and different facilities each year, or skipping some years entirely, unlike the specific date constraints and annual maintenance fee cost obligations of owning two consecutive fixed weeks in two different states, two thousand+ miles apart from one another.

You asked for recommendations; frankly I would recommend not buying in Orlando or Las Vegas when it's so easy to rent in (or exchange into) either place.

Mostly because I'll work while in vegas and then have a vacation in orlando.. fitting both stays in over a 2 to 3 week period will save me a transatlantic flight

If you are looking outside of school holidays, you probably could use your Marbella as an exchange for one week and an AC or Getaway week for the other. It is a shame that Marbella isn't a lock off or it would cover you for both weeks.

Orlando and Vegas with very few date exceptions are not the kind of places you need to worry about buying as a home resort. Any exchanger even a cheapy non Marriott will work most of the time. For more certainty if you want specific dates an EOY Marriott lockoff just about anywhere gold and up should do the trick.

Once you are an owner- resale or not, you'll be able to join II (the exchange company associated with Marriott). You can then 'rent' Getaways, or exchange into places like Orlando or Las Vegas. Those built-up areas are always available.
If it turns out that you need more 'exchange power'- or selection, perhaps adding another week somewhere else.

Don't overlook the TUG Marketplace for rentals. Often you can rent for less than the underlying maintenance fees- and no buy-in cost.

Welcome to TUG! Always good to have more input from Europe.

vegas and orlando are the two largest concentrations of timeshares in the world...is no lack of availability for rentals...and sadly the value of regular (ie non event specific) weeks are at the bottom of the scale.

Understood, but just as easily (and more flexibly, and likely much less expensively) accomplished with rentals, which are always available in Las Vegas and Orlando. But it's your money; if you want to hunt for and buy permanent, consecutive fixed weeks in those two overbuilt places that is certainly your prerogative.
