Special "roll back" offer

This is a good point. The OP posted:

It seems that pricing is listed for original developer buyers. Do they extend the same price to pre 6/20/2010 of $1495/$1995 to resale buyers? That is really only a $400 savings for a multiple week pre 6/20/2010 resale buyer. $900 for a single week owner. A resale purchaser may be better to pay the full fee as I think it also comes with 3,500 PlusPoints as incentive.
That's what I was thinking. There was a post a long time back where someone was going to do the old price, then heard about the (then) 3700 or so plus points, and waited and paid more.

I understand. I am doubly screwed. I opted out of the plan when I had a lot of resale timeshares in 2009. I sold them subsequently. I bought into the new program with two enrolled developer weeks. I paid for points. I am an idiot.

(But to my defense, at least a little bit, my husband had just passed and I made a lot of mistakes like that)

You're not an idiot... Many of us did the same thing... I bought back too after selling, in a huff, and I am glad I did... It's a much better program than when it was weeks based...

So, the answer is they are not offering DC point status for weeks purchased after 2010.what they are offering is to enroll weeks at the former price. Does that mean that those weeks can be traded for DC points? I assume absolutely not!

Only those weeks that were owned prior to the 2010 date, that can be enrolled. Once enrolled, they can be traded for DC points...

I would call the marketing number noted on the email (anyone have the number to share?) and ask specifically about your situation... Especially, if this opportunity ceases on March 25, 2015... We are only 7 days away...

If Marriott ever did do something where they would allow enrollment of a post June 2010 resale week purchased direct from Marriott resales - without the requirement of a matching points buy - I would be all over that.

I actually think that could be a good move for Marriott if such an offer were time limited or target audience-limited in some fashion so that it did not significantly cannibalize points sales. I think it could help them move a lot of the better resale weeks where the required hybrid points buy is huge and a deterrent to using that resale week as part of a hybrid purchase. That could help get more quality weeks enrolled in the DC as well. The key would be to limit the offer in such as way that it is targeted to folks who are unlikely to buy DC Points at the retail rate - like most Tuggers. Could be a win-win with some creative thinking by Marriott.

I got the same email as GetawayRus... My weeks are post 2010 but bought from Marriott resales dept. We are at the Marriott sales office now and dropping a small amount of change and we are plenty happy...and got the weeks enrolled. Our total price per point for all weeks and new DC points is quite comparable to buying resale DC points. :cheer:

Did they make you purchase an equal number of points as your newly enrolled weeks get or did they let you purchase fewer DC trust points?

Short answer is I was happier than Marriott sales dept was. You can PM me for details...

Why not share with us all?

We realized we didn't have all the documents and went back and when they tried to generate additional documents it looks like the sales office has a snafu and the deal may not go through. I am holding my breath that it will be but now it looks unlikely.

Sounds like the salesperson(s) were writing checks that its @$$ (contract signers) couldn't/wouldn't cash.

Yep. We left happy as the sales manager at the office said we could buy a small number of DC points to enroll the weeks (and he got clearance from Salt Lake City regional sales manager ). We later realized we did not receive the paperwork for enrollment and they said no problem, it was missed on their part. They then tried to generate from the system and it was flagged that they could not do it. The sales manager spoke with the Orlando office this morning and it was a no go.
