Got this email today...do other TUGgers have recommendations on who to vote for?

Dear Owner:

The 2015 Annual Meeting of the Grand Desert Resort Vacation Owners Association, Inc. is approaching fast. This year’s meeting will be held on April 10, 2015. If you have not already received your notice package, you should be receiving it in the mail shortly. Included within the notice package is a Proxy with Voting Direction as well as a pre-addressed return envelope. Our documents require that 15% of the total voting interest (excluding that owned by the Developer) be represented in person or by proxy in order for the meeting to proceed. As we are conducting an election of directors at this year’s meeting, it is even more prudent that we achieve quorum.

If we do not reach quorum with this initial mailing, it may result in having to reschedule the meeting and election and having to send another mailing, which will be an added cost to the Association of several thousand dollars. Therefore, I urge you to return your proxy as quickly as possible, so that the meeting can proceed as planned. The Annual Meeting Notice that was sent included a URL, User ID and Password, which allows you to cast your vote and sign your Proxy electronically. If you wish to vote on-line, please click on the URL below to access your personalized on-line Proxy.

USER ID: XXXXXXX
Password: XXXXXX

If you are not able to vote online, you may return your paper Proxy via US Mail, or via fax to: (954) 323-5269, Attn: GRAND DESERT VOTING.

Thank you so much for taking time to participate in the 2015 Annual Meeting and Election of Directors of the Grand Desert Resort Vacation Owners Association, Inc.

Sincerely,
Soren Jensen
Resort Manager

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I own in Club Wyndham Access, which Wyndham Grand Desert is part of. Like all owners, I pay HOA fees. How come CWA owners don't get to vote? Do we get a say in any election at any resort?

No, you count in CLUB meetings and the management of the CLUB (Wyndham employees) vote for :rofl:YOUR BEST INTEREST.:hysterical:

Don't worry, CWP members just have to go to more HOA meetings to realize the end result is the exact same as CWA ... Wyndham hasour "best interest" at heart, too with all the proxies they get to vote.:wall:

It'd be great if someone running was a TUG member & could comment.

CWA owners do not own deeds outright. The deeds are in a trust so no CWA points owner can sit on a HOA board unless they also out points associated with a specific deed. Then they can run, but only at the resort(s) where they own deeds.

Wyndham took control of all HOA boards by only allowing one owns to sit on the HOA board. The other two board members are made up of Wyndham employees, so Wyndham get what they want no matter what the owners want. Can you say 'Conflict of Interest'...

Got the second notice for this today.

Is there any point to this election, if Wyndham controls the majority of the ownership (either via CWA or outright)?

There may not be much of a point in voting for a candidate, but please at least file your proxy so that they can actually holdthe meeting. If they don't have enough owner attendees/proxies, they have to reschedule the meeting and send out an all new mailing. That costs the HOA (in other words, us owners) money.
