We went to a presentation yesterday on hilton head, and I have to say it was one of the most pressured we have experienced. When asked at the resort to attend, they said they had new information on the marriott purchase of Atlantis and thus was interesting to us. After asking numerous times about it, our questions were never answered and the presentation continued to 'advise' us that we really must purchase to be an hybrid owner. So our future options would no be limited. The first recemmended buy ting 3500 points and then thought 2500 would do to add to our legacy points of 8700, which we've never converted to points for Use, but did enroll in 2011. Then the follow punch came with a new person say because of our special status we could purchase 1500 points and "make it a day"!
The cost for 1500 points was around $18000; 25000 points $30700; and 35000 points around 42000.
When salesperson 2 felt we were not budging, he rather rudely left.

The pressure was th most intense we have ever encountered. Bases on their presentation, 97% of owners are soooo happy with the change to points and 67% are now 'happy' HYBRID owners.
He also quoted us .45 per thousand for maintenance fees.

Nor did we buy. It was the whole presentation that concerned us! Their No Pressure technique certainly has changed

It depends on your sales rep. We did the HHI pitch and felt comfortable with her/their approach. Were they trying to get the order? Sure, put they inquired about our lifestyle and needs first and then tailored their offer. Was it perfect? No, but it's all relative. It was a timeshare sales pitch and done professionally from our perspective.

Our friends who are owners at Waiohai bought 1000 points yesterday at a presentation because the salesperson said as hybrid owners they would have much more availability than being only enrolled owners. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this statement?

good morning

Absolutely NOT....

only the purchased 1000 pts have the direct TRUST benefit...

Have them tell the sales rep to put it in writing.... The Purchase of Trust points does absolutely ZERO to the value and utility of the week already owned...

We went through the presentation in HH in July. They kept saying that we needed to have some trust points so we could he hybrid. We have 14050 legacy points. So we said that we'll buy 100 points to make us hybrid. They said the minimum was 1000. We said no, we don't need them. They agreed!!!!

i have offered on several presentations to buy a package of 500 points. have always gotten the same response that the 1000 point package is the minimum they could sell. maybe its a bookkeeping thing and they dont want to have to keep track of a lot of small packages. 1000 seems like a nice round number.

More likely a nice, round commission check. :ignore:

We did a presentation at MOW this past Monday.
Didn't want to....had no interest... (and told them so), but they dangled a Kindle Fire or Kindle Paperwhite (choice of either), in front of my wife. Needless to say we went!
I must say that the salesman was very low keyed. No pressure. But...by the same token, he did not have good marketing information about us.
We are enrolled legacy weeks owners, with an option to convert to 15,400 pts.
He figured out ...that he couldn't sell us anything...even if it were $3.00 a point, (however, they are now $12.12).
He was a very very nice man. His closer was equally nice.
Halfway through the presentation I dropped the bomb that I was a TUG member and questioned a few things that he was angleing at....and he really backed off.
He went to his "closer" and advised him that we were a lost cause. The closer spent about 4 minutes and bailed.
It's good to read TUG every day. I only consider myself somewhat educated about Marriott's point system....but it was enough to keep the wolves at bay.

BTW,
the minimum number of points they wanted to sell was 2000.
However the closer offered us 2500 points for the price of 2000.
