I didn't know where to ask this. I saw some of the units say BES on the Hawaiian Timeshare Exchange rental page. I was trying to help one of the guys at the firehouse with a rental and saw this unit type. The price is much higher for the BES units.

I once inquired about renting my oceanfront Hono Koa through HTSE, and she said, "You won't get half that for a Maui property like yours." I asked why, and the gal said (don't remember which gal I talked with over the phone), "Only the Lawai Beach Banyan top-level units get that much rent." I was like, "Really? Well mine is 50 feet from the water and oceanfront." She said, "No matter, you won't get your fees back." So I didn't list with them because they want to make 25%. My fees at the time were $1,300. I admit it's tough to rent even oceanfront units on Maui for the cost of MF's. I have tried. :(

I wonder if a person can buy one of those weeks easily.

Two king beds and two washer/dryers, all with guaranteed oceanfront view. Not bad. I will let Lenny know. Interesting that there are such nice units at Lawai Beach. Might be worth the extra cash.

I've never stayed at LBR, but may ask to see one of those units next month when we're on Kauai. Might be worth the extra rental, too.

We stayed there last November on an RCI exchange and we were very impressed. Our unit was a banyan 2nd floor with a view over the pool and ocean. It had just been remodeled and they did a nice job. Very large 1br unit, no AC, not an issue in November. There is a resort fee for renters and exchangers. Very clean property there were always people working on the property, every night someone went around and lit the tiki torches. Every night at sunset everyone went over to the ocean. Very quiet with no real traffic since the road ends at the blowhole. The beach across the street is not really a swimming beach but is supposed to be good snorkeling. The week we were there a little to rough for me. Poipu beach was a 10 min drive, we walked over there one day then we had dinner at keikos's owned by dukes, great music and food. Here is when we discovered one little drawback, we like walking to dinner, that way if I have a few drinks I don't have to worry about driving. Well the walk back was very dark, no streetlights, and no sidewalks in places. we didn't have a flashlight, luckily I remembered that my phone had a flashlight app and it worked great. We drove to dinner other nights.

We have stayed at the Lawai Beach Resort for about 5 weeks over the years. It is a great resort. However, unless you eat at the Beachhouse Restaurant across the street it is a problem walking home in the dark. We say that given the choice between drinking and driving, we choose drinking. We like to drink before and during dinners and therefore, having to drive to and from dinner is a concern that we share. Hence, we stay much more in our fovorite place, Waikiki without a car, which is very walkable with great bus transportation, rather than the other 5 islands which we also love.

Yes, I agree ... except we chose LBR and drank while cooking our dinners on their grills, eating on our ocean view lanai after the sunset gathering on the lawn of the Beach House.

We did eat midweek with Sunset reservations at The Beach House - it was my birthday - very nice meal.

Three or four years ago the Kukuiulu area on the corner of Lawai Beach Rd. opened. There are more than five restaurants there and it is less than 1/2 mile from Lawai Beach Resort and I believe 90 % at least is on sidewalk.

There is also a Poipu area taxi service available should that be desired.

Lawaii Beach House Restaurant.

We have stayed twice at the Lawaii Resort and liked the location. Close to a relatively safe and decent snorkeling beach for Hawaii and the Beach House Restaurant.
The first time we ate there we took another couple and we all had a couple mai tais before dinner. Good but well over $100 for the drinks. the meals are very good and on the expensive side. We have learned to go over with our drink in hand and have it while watching the sunset ad then have dinner, Cuts the bar bill down 80% and the view is just as good.
We hope to go back to Kauai next November /December for a week to go along with two weeks on Oahu and one week on the Big Island. wave:
