Which Vegas HGVC Timeshare to go to Convention Center?

I am going to a convention.
Will have a car but still don't want to deal with too much traffic.
Which resort would be best?
Will need a 2 bedroom that the second bedroom has full beds instead of twins.
Which would be easier for handicap mobility issues.

I stayed at HGVC on Paradise, and would do definitely that again for a quick trip where I really just needed to go to the Convention Center and escape back to the room to work. I stayed in a 2BR with a co-worker, and both bedrooms had large beds and not twins. The downside was lack of any nearby food - the market downstairs is good for snacks, and we ended up ordering in.

They've changed the names of the resorts, but I stayed in HGVC on the strip last year <- that's what it was called at the time. I thought it was a great location for driving because it is on the quiet end of the strip and you really don't need to drive on the busy part of the strip at all, unless you are going there for something.

It had a mini market in the lobby and also the building next door has a CVS that had a surprising amount of food items. I don't know what the current name of this resort is.

I thought it was a great location for driving because it is on the quiet end of the strip and you really don't need to drive on the busy part of the strip at all, unless you are going there for something.

I see the Strip has a spa.
Not sure if we will have time to use it but it would be a nice day.
Can you use the other HGVC facilities when you stay at another HGVC resort?

I usually stay at the Karen property when I go to trade-shows at the Convention Center. If you walk though the hotel and convention center you are able to bypass the heat and walk over pretty quickly. The north tower entrance is really close and follow that around.

Lately I have enjoyed staying at the Flamingo property and riding the monorail over. I haven't tried Elara yet. The North Strip property is kinda around many halted construction projects. You can use the spa and pool at any of the 3 resorts. I am not sure about Elara. I have driven to the Karen property while staying at the flamingo went to a convention in the morning hopped in the pool and then drove back to the flamingo. We had a couple conference friends staying at the other resort.

Check what the parking and valet costs are. Two years ago, I exchanged into the strip property and they waived the parking fees because I own HGVC. Things may have changed.

I just called and they said that even though I am doing an RCI exchange that as an HGVC club member they waive the parking fees.

We decided on the Strip Location because of the spa.

If you can have even have a little bit of time away from convention chaos, the Strip is a nice choice. I was there in October with my family and really enjoyed the pool and the spa. There's a pretty good supermarket nearby, and traffic was light. I think you may also be able to take the monorail to the convention center from there, but don't know that for sure. Have a great time!

Chris, are you planning on staying overnight to see Bryce Canyon? There are very few (like maybe two) hotels in the area unless you stay at the lodge inside the park. Also the restaurant selection is very limited as well. We stayed at the newer Best Western and it was very nice. They also provided an excellent breakfast.

Another alternative if you decided to stay an extra night somewhere when you venture up to Bryce or Zion is to stay in Kanab, UT. You could easily do the north rim of the Grand Canyon from there, too. We had a quick two-night trip to Bryce and Grand Canyon and stayed in a nice, clean little motel called Aikens Lodge. I highly recommend it. Kanab is just a little over 3 hrs. from Las Vegas.

Chris, you do realize it's a 4+ hour drive one way from Las Vegas to Bryce Canyon? Are you thinking you might visit Zion instead? That's a little under 3 hours. But with either park if you are going, and returning to Las Vegas, you're basically going to be spending the whole day in the car driving.

Going to Bryce, if you take I15 North to Cedar City and up the mountain to Brain Head, Cedar Breaks is a neat place to see just off 14 West.

On the way back from Bryce Canyon, take 89 South to 9 West and go thru Zion NP, on your way to I15 South to LV. If your in a convertible, you'll really enjoy Zion NP. If your on a Harley, it's even better.


Going to Mt Charleston is a quick trip. So instead, take Route 160, over the hump to Pahrump, where you can stop at the winery for a glass and some eats:

Afterwards head on to Death Valley:

Before heading out to 95 and South to Mt Charleston, stop at Scotty's Castle:

Take 95 South to Route 156 West to the top Mt Charleston, where the ski slopes are.


When your done, take Route 156 down the hill to Route 158 South to Route 157 and turn right up the mountain. This road will take you to the Mt Charleston Lodge, where you can eat, drink, or what ever.

Just to put this in perspective. We stayed in Las Vegas for 3 nights. Then we headed to Zion, spent one night in Springdale, UT, then from there drove to Bryce Canyon and spent one night there. From there we headed home, with another stop in Farmington. I cannot imagine making that drive all in one day. You wouldn't have time to really see much of anything.

We will probably just hit one canyon. I have already done the Grand Canyon 3 times so I am sure I will return again soon. I love that area but the altitude doesn't love me.

Even just visiting one park, Zion or Bryce, you'll be spending most of the day in the car. Round trip just to Zion (not including any time in the park) is at least 6 hours, and round trip to Bryce at least 8.

Well there is no way you were going to go to Mt Charleston (up 95) "and" Bryce Canyon (I15) in one day, so I assumed that Mt Charleston was 1 day & Bryce Canyon was another day.

You take I15 North for Bryce Canyon and you have to come home some how. Coming home you drop South and go thru Zion. That's the way we've done it for the last 30+ years, in cars, SUV's, Jeep's, and on Harley's (FLHTCUI).
