Questions about selling SVV

I'm looking to sell my 2BR Vistana Villages, Bella Phase, 81,000 annual options. I see a lot of non-Bella phases sell for cheap, and I'm having trouble figuring out what price to list it for.

1) I see some listings that say "Platinum", what does that mean?

2) I don't want to list it too cheaply, because I know that the Bella phase has more value than others, but I also don't want to come off as someone that doesn't understand the low resale value of timeshares. Any suggestions what to start at? I see some older listings that haven't sold, but only 1 is Bella, and the "fee" is high, I think they thought that was a maintenance fee field, so I don't know if that's why it hasn't sold at that price.

3) I contacted someone that sells timeshares on eBay, seemed like they had a lot of sales, and might hold more weight than me in a buyers eyes, but they wanted 30%, which seemed too steep. Does anyone have any companies that sell on eBay that they would recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks to those that PM'ed me with what they were able to sell for, that's very helpful, I with the TUG marketplace had a way to show sold listings.

These are the completed ebay auctions for SVV Bella. There are a couple of 81,000's. I wouldn't use ebay because it would be hard to compete with someone with more sales and positive feedback. Try listing around the same price at the free and low cost timeshare sites.

Thanks, that was my concern with listing myself on eBay. If I was buying, I'd by from a company that has 2000 sales over some random guy with 1 TS to sell. I was considering listing with a company that sells them on eBay for you, buy their extra sales would have to justify the overhead.

Like you said - good idea to post on TUG / Redweek and other places first, see if I can get that price myself.

You can see what units have sold for in the TUG marketplace. Do a search of your resort and then click on the "price history" tab.

I see a SVV Bella, 2Br, that sold for $2,335. You will need to log in on the other side of TUG to see these.

Don't sell based on how you'd buy, sell based on how others would buy.

I look in eBay and elsewhere everyday for a timeshare to buy and I can tell you that if you have the unit I'm looking for I won't care how many you've sold before. In fact there are a few big sellers on eBay that I won't even read their auctions while I will look at individual's listings.

Also, don't forget the other free sites like Craig's List and eBay classifieds.

Oh, there is a price history...I had a TUG membership before, but I let it lapse. I'll go renew it now! Thanks :)

Great, thanks for the feedback. Do you find that people have more luck with an auction or a classified ad on eBay?

I've never put a timeshare for sale on eBay but gave one away through an ad I had on eBay classifieds.

It's a different situation than yours because my price was only $1.

I have written to individuals with timeshares for sale on eBay and most of them didn't really know what they owned or how to get it transfered, of course that doesn't stop some of the big eBay sellers.

The ebay sold auctions has an $1800 sale followed by a $100 sale.

The $1800 is prime weeks, the other non prime.

If you have non prime weeks, I would just try to give it away on tug.

We're week 8, so we're prime. <phew>

With mandatory resorts, the number of SO's is what people usually look at to gauge value.

I don't heve a clue what that means.

If I understand correctly, I believe that tschwa2 means that it doesn't really matter what week you own, what matters is how many StarOptions it's worth. in my case, it's 81K a year.

OK
I looked at some more auctions and it seems to me that SO's are related to prime weeks.

If it's a non prime week it's 67,100 SO's
A prime week, 81,000 SO's

The $1800 sale was by a seller held in low regard here with many negative feedbacks.

I would think that you could do better than that.

Thanks for taking the time to track down that info, I appreciate it.

Timeshare Realtor's typically take 20% or so with a minimum of $1500-2000. I wouldn't think that using a realtor would be wise unless your TS was worth more than $5000-$10000. In that case they may be able to bring in an extra $2000-3000 and take care of everything making it easier.

While your TS is worth more than $0, it isn't really worth enough to bring in a broker.

Thanks, yeah, that's way too high. It'd be nice to have someone else handle it, but not for a 1/5 of the price.

Ha - I had filled out a form on a realtor's site before you had mentioned the fees. "The timeshare king" (he actually referred to himself like that when he called back), wanted 50%!

StarOptions, and Maintenance Fees, and ability to rent (Location/Season - Demand) are the factors that determine the value of a TS Week (VOI) at a SVN Mandatory resort (like SVV Bella), and should be reflected in the Comps that you can estimate from places like eBay and RedWeek.

SVV Bella (81K SOs) has some value - but not enough to use a broker (IMO).
Hopefully, you are familiar with the SVO forum on TUG - you will get more specific and relevant opinions there.
