Advantages and Disadvantages of E-Plus

I have to thank Dioxide for explaining this new option to me. I had a banked week expiring on Oct 8 and was thinking of paying $99 to extend it for 6 months.

Dioxide posted that I could save some $$ my buying the Eplus for $49 instead. So I just booked a 2 bd at Paradise Village for Sept 29. I think it said that I could cancel up to 24 hours before check in, so I'll cancel on the 27th and rebook something for as far in advance as it will let me (I think thats 60 days, right? I need something from Dec 21-Jan 9 so I might get a trade on my secnod go that works; if not, it said I had a YEAR instead of 6 months to made my 2nd and 3rd trade. Yippee!

I love saving money!!! Thanks, dioxide! ♥

Great! I think though that you are limited to one year or three retrades. Because you can only trade for 60 days out at a time, those three retrades limit you to a six month window, not one year. I don't think you really can cancel, you can just retrade.

Still $49 for what is pretty much a 6 month extension vs $99 is a good deal. A little more work, but still a good deal.

I know this has been mentioned but if you are in need of a regular retrade a better option might be cancelling the exchange for a replacement week and then adding e-plus which adds up to an additional year to the expiration date along with 3 free retrades.

I would still like to know if you can cancel an exchange that has e-plus attached and receive a replacement week. If anyone knows please chime in.

EDIT: E-plus does not add to the expiration of a replacement week. The replacement week expiration date overrides the E-Plus expiration date.

I had a replacement week that had to be used by June 17, 2014. The original week would have expired June 30, 2014. It was a 2012 week. I exchanged for Jan 2014. I added eplus. I now can re-trade for anything through Jan 2015.

Beware. I just found out that the extended E-plus expiration will not actually work with a replacement week. I did just as you and added e-plus to a replacement week. It appears that my deposit is extended by the e-plus expiration but in reality it is not. The problem is when you go to do a retrade it first validates your dates for the e-plus expiration, but then it also validates the search for the original replacement week expiration. It does a date validation twice, so the e-plus expiration is ignored and cannot be used. Your expiration is still going to be June 17, 2014, unless somehow yours is stuck with some earlier programming.

I suspect this is also the programming for adding e-plus in order to cheaply extend a deposit but I am not sure.

Good to know. I am plan on keeping the Jan exchange but I have one more replacement week. I guess I won't be adding e plus with the expectation of extending the expiration.

Thanks for the information. Though I am surprised that you can add EPlus to a cancellation replacement. I thought EPlus had to be added within 7 (or is it 5?) of the original exchange confirmation. Since a cancellation replacement is technically an exchange that has happened once, you can't add it to it. Just like adding EPlus to a re-trade shouldn't work. I suppose they treat a cancellation replacement week like a whole new deposit?

They do treat it like a brand new deposit. The cancelled exchange shows separately as "cancelled" and the replacement week is entered with no history. Even though e-plus isn't extending the 1-year replacement expiration I will still add it in most cases. They are basically getting $213 from me on the cancellation which I think is a good deal for both parties.

You can't do short stays with a replacement week which surprises me.
