Just back from glorious week at Marbella Beach Resort purchased with AC for £124. Sweet deal considering maintenance fees last year were a whopping £765.77!

This was first silver week and the resort was full. Probably 25 degree C weather helped - usually bit cooler this time of year. Also no rain so absolutely fabulous.

I've mentioned before that the European hotels are getting strict with their MRP allocation. This is the first time my MRPs and nights credit have been put on my account and not my husband's (as rightly stated it's because my husband wasn't with us). It's a real pain though - this is the 9th solo trip I've had without him and for 7 of them the MRPs were credited to his account.

The staff at the front desk said it's due to recent audits of MRP usage; it's come to light lots of points been credited to incorrect accounts. I was told some people have had their points and nights revoked so shouldn't complain.

Will be interesting to see what happens next April when I check into OceanWatch Villas, Myrtle Beach minus my husband. I feel the US is much less strict than Europe for some reason.:wall:

There is a thread on flyertalk about this. Probably from 6 weeks ago. (about crediting to other accounts for hotel stays.) Marriott is cracking down. Including closing Marriott rewards accounts.

I find it VERY hard to believe they are closing any accounts unless someone is blatantly abusing the rules. My wife could easily mistakenly use my MR number. Or what if we got divorced and she booked in my name and I wasn't there? Big deal. Don't give her points then. Don't close my account. That makes NO sense. Sounds like some internet folklore. More like a mistake that happened to one person would be my guess.

Did you make a point of mentioning that you wanted your husbands number to stay on the reservation? Or did the checkin agent discover the issue on their own?

Its in their updated T's and C's Larry. Check it out. You can find it hard to believe. I gave no circumstances and I doubt they would do it if someone did it accidentally. But, the poster didn't describe an accidental situation. They were trying to credit the account of someone not with them. Specifically what the rules state is not allowed. Thanks for discounting what I said though….I stay at Marriott hotels approx 3X/week for work travel. I stay up on this stuff pretty closely.

When checking in I noticed the MRP number was mine (they must have looked it up because I never told them plus don't even know it as the account has very few points because we've always earned them on husband's account). I specifically asked for the stay and points to be credited to my husband's account as has always been the case during timeshare stays. I'm a joint owner with him; this in effect means that if I didn't have my own MRP account then the stay wouldn't have been recognized.

A couple of years ago my son stayed with his friend at Grande Vista for 2 weeks. Points and stay were duly credited as have been all my timeshare and hotel stays prior to this year. Went to County Hall, London in Aug. They wouldn't recognise husband's platinum status as not with me. I paid for this visit - they upgraded us to a 1 BR suite overlooking Big Ben etc. But no concierge lounge (didn't matter as breakfast was included).

I just wish MRP would be consistent with what they do but they're obviously clamping down.
