Can anyone tell me why ttimshare requires 2014 MF to be paid at the end of the auction? I thought MF were due January 1st. Thanks.

ttimeshare just wants it that way - I wouldn't do it... It may be an indication that they don't think they can get the transfer done by Jan. 1.

It may be that if MFs are billed and due, they need to be paid before a transfer can be done. It may be a requirement of the resort. They already billed the seller, so they want that paid before they will transfer it, doesn't matter that it isn't actually due until January.

DeniseM,

One of my resorts (VRI Managed) sent out with their MFs, that FIXED WEEK owners in the first quarter of the year HAD TO HAVE PAID their MFs 60 days before scheduled check in day.

What a CROCK - but it appears they had Jan and Feb owners using or renting their timeshare weeks AND not paying their MFs.

Yes, I like paying my MFs after Christmas also --- I really dislike the idea of paying them before Turkey Day.

I have no problem paying the resort, but I'm leery about sending it to "ttimeshare" - is that an ebay seller? If it were me, I'd prefer to pay the resort directly, but my comfort level would also depends on what kind of history/reputation this seller has, and who is doing the escrow/closing.

my MF fees were due on Oct 1

I was pretty annoyed when I the seller, was expected to pay my 2014 MF fees on Oct 1, 2013 when I had expected to pay it on Dec 12 which is what the Estoppel read. The paperwork couldn't get processed in time for Oct 1 and my buyer chose not to buy because I wanted 2014 MF fees reimbursed or paid by new owner. Now I still own my week, stressed out big time right around Oct 1 and will have to try again next year. I only WISH my MF fees could have been due right about now.. The annoying thing is, the company selling my timeshare suggested I go ahead and pay up and let the new owner have free usage which apparently is a common thing - I chose not to do that because $801 is too much for me to give to a stranger - simple as that. No matter what, the MF needs to be paid BEFORE the transfer can occur.

I own at the same resort. Is this new or has it always been that way?

Resorts are asking for it so that they have a year to deal with those who abandon their week to a viking ship or some other non paying entity.

If the MF are high then you should pay them with a closing escrow.
