Did a Tugger get the eBay WKV for sale?

Just wondering if a Tugger bought the WKV that closed on eBay a few days ago.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/WESTIN-KIER...30937942653?pt=Timeshares&hash=item1e7c82727d

I figured that's about where it would go based on historical eBay prices, but was hoping to get it for a little lower. Oh well... I really don't need anymore timeshares anyway.

I thought that was an excellent price. I bought through a broker in Feb and paid more. Brokers and there Sellers seem to be holding out for 17 teens these days.

If I was not about to embark on renovations that always overrun I would have bid more than that price. You can achieve a 7-10% roi at that price and it is a great SVO trader and a decent seller.

eBay seller = redweeks4less
Search TUG for reviews on this seller... most are very negative.

Ah ok. That would be a discount factor. EBay feedback seems ok though.
It was badly listed imho. It only came up in one of my 4 SVO searches.

i bid on it but decided not to continue after reading tug reviews of the ebay seller.

Yes, there has been negative feedback for this seller. However, the majority of the feedback on eBay has been positive. You have to use their closing company, but a 3rd party escrow can be used.

For me, if it had stayed a bit lower ($11K range), I would have purchased. One just needs to weigh the risks -- IMHO it's factored into the purchase price.

That was a great price. I made an offer on one for 17K about a month ago that was turned down before I got mine. Current prices are running 17-17.5K. Prices have increased since the first of the year. The 2BR WKV plat. LO is a great product, IMO. I would rather pay more through a broker and have 'peace of mind'.

I didn't expect to get it, but was the high bidder until the last 30-45 seconds. Started to really wonder if those last 30 second bids would really come.

$11k for wpv plat? That would be a dream price, based on today's value. If you ever find it that low there is likely some extenuating circumstances requiring a quick sale, etc. Reasonable sale prices are much higher.

Hence why it would have been worth the risk for me given the negative feedback on the seller.

I purchased the other one for 13K plus $475 closing costs.

Interestingly, I was traveling yesterday and just noticed I had received a "second chance offer" at 12:05pm giving me until 12:05am today to "buy it" at the 2nd highest price (my last bid price). I know I saw the bidding going up several times and I doubt the winning bidder bid against themself in the last 30 seconds several times. I'd really consider the "buy it now" 2nd chance price but first of all it's past my 12 hour window and with the negative feedback I've decided not to "click" the "buy it now" 2nd chance offering figuring it to be a scam?

That's very interesting -- I know there have been a lot of scams regarding the 2nd Chances, but I thought this was a private auction (bidder names not revealed) so how would a scammer know where to find you?

I would be curious to see if it was viable -- if you would take the Second Chance, perhaps you Click the Buy It and then do some real diligence on the offer before any money changes hands?

If they had an estoppel letter, and you could confirm the details with Starwood....maybe it is a legitimate second chance?

Hmmm....please let us know if anything comes from it.

Best,

Greg

I agree with GregT. The only way a scammer would have known is if they checked this message thread and saw that you had identified yourself as the 2nd bidder. They would then need to figure out your email address from your tug handle via public resources -- that's doable but a lot of work.

I'd contact the seller directly if you are interested. That way you can verify it originated from the seller and determine if you are willing to purchase it based on their response. If you are worried about being scammed, I'd insist on using my own escrow service and buying title insurance (obviously at your cost).

Good luck. Let us know how it turned out.

This would make me very uncomfortable. May be perfectly legit, but I would rather pay a little more...

First of all, TS sales don't fit the profile of why "private auctions" are set up.
This makes me question the integrity of the seller.

Secondly, it is very possible the seller was bidding, using a different account, to drive the price up and when you did not bid higher at the end, he won his own auction.

Now he offers it to you at your high bid price even though your high bid may have been lower if he had not been in there bidding.

As I stated first, I don't trust TS auctions that are "private."

I think they received the offer through eBay which forwards it through to your email as the seller can see all the people who placed bids and generate a 2nd chance offer vs going through messages here. You might have misunderstood how they got the offer.

I didn't misunderstand -- you described how the legitimate seller offers a 2nd chance offer.

The 2nd chance recipient asked "could this be a scam?" I was responding as to how a scammer might spoof a 2nd chance offer. The hypothetical scammer would not have direct eBay access to the email address unless they hijacked the seller's account.

recent unit for sale

if i understood the description of the unit it would appeared to be a ocean front unit. seems 13K wouild be a pretty good price. do you think Starwood excercise their ROFR at that kind of price. oops that was another unit that sold just the other day for just under 13k

WKV doesn't have ROFR. You're right; it was a great price as I know of 2 in the last several months that sold in the 16.5-17k range and one offer of 17k that was rejected by the seller.

Received the estoppel letter, but have decided not to follow through since all of the negative feedback wants me to avoid any hassles. It may be a good price, but I really don't want to deal with potential headaches - just not worth my time. I expect it will be listed again soon. Still, I wonder how I was selected for 2nd chance offering. Supposedly the "previous owner has another westin kierland....exactly like the one you bid on". I was watching the bids in the last minute and I was not the 2nd highest bidder.

If it's OF at WKV, I'll bet you could pick up WMH for a steal!

Have you looked at the listings on Redweek? You can probably get one for 4k more.

Yes, I know. But if it isn't a great deal I'm in no hurry to purchase. Have too many timeshares as it is now and not enough vacation time.
