Hiya,

I was stung today while playing in the water here at Marco Island....
I got Stinging sensation on my right arm, front chest and back!
I was floating around on a mesh floaty, throwing football, wearing a water shirt as well.
My guess is the thing got caught up in the mesh floating then under my shirt ...
A few red marks and the stinging is all I experienced.... Went away after 30mins or so...... Took a shower washed with soap... Didn't have vinegar handy...

There was a visible whitish squishy thing as wife called it, on inside of shirt, small, about size of 1/2 an eraser end of pencil...

could it be bits of a busted up jelly fish or sea lice? I found sea lice are the larva of a small thimble jellyfish....

Anyone familiar with this in these parts?

Got stung by regular jelly last summer in HHI , guess I've got bad luck!

Went back in for swim after lunch... Not being deterred ... Or not being smart!?
But I enjoy the water here!

Enjoying the week!

Laters,

WPT

Sounds like a small jelly fish.
You don't see sea lice, you just feel them once you get infested.

This is usually a good time of year to go in the water.
I think you just got unlucky. You probably won't see them again.
I've been going to SW Florida in the summers for 40 years and
have luckily never been infected with sea lice nor stung by a jelly
fish.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

So many storms and rough water lately - the critters are angry. It's usually a lot nicer this time of year.

Thanks for the replies....
Enjoying one of my fav times of day, coffee on balcony overlooking the calm Marco Beach!
Heading out for a swim soon....
