Alright I’ll bite . . . . .

I ran this job description through the SVO decoder we all got a few years ago. I’m a little rusty so bear with me, but here is what I’m seeing through my decoder. Decoder provided supplemental text is underlined:

Job Listing:

VP ... OWNER MILKER

Responsible for . . . ensuring revenue maximization.

Ensure that . . . .we don’t get sued by owners while we are busy maximizing revenue.

Responsible for . . .determination of new and larger member and transaction fees for SVN so as to ensure revenue maximization.

Lead the Divisional effort to determine the highest and best use of room night inventory (yield per occupied room nights, YPOR). Identify risks in occupancy and (assess) marketing strategies to (ensure positive) effect outcome against company goals of ensuring revenue maximization for us at the expense of owners but not so much that you get us sued.

Responsible for the management of SVO exchange programs and maintain advantageous working relationships with the external exchange companies (Interval International, RCI) so as to maximize revenue for us but not so much that you get us sued.

Responsible for all budgeting and forecasting processes for Room Drivers (e.g. room nights) for the division (we don’t know what this means either, but it sounded important and sort of like we know what we are talking about so we threw it in).

Provides global analytical support to determine such things as Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) Conversion cost budget and forecasts, Gross Arrivals budgets, inventory available for sale, etc. . . . oh come on, if you haven’t figured it out yet we need someone to take a fresh look at our captive cash cow owners and figure out how we can further milk them even drier without getting sued. . .. We would really, really, really like to make more money from our owners, but there are these law things we have to deal with that could get in the way of that. So, we’re willing to pay good money in the form of a salary with full benefits (... it’s not even our money now is it so what do we care anyway? In fact, it’s the money of the very owners that we’re gearing up to go after . . . . how ironic don’t 'cha think? It’s good being us. . .) to the right person that can help us make more money without getting sued.

If we can’t find anyone with this particular skill set because they are all in jail somewhere, we’ll just make this yet another “do nothing” VP job that we’ll give to one of our relatives that’s been sitting around the house watching “Honey Boo Boo” all day so it’s a “win” for us either way.

He visited TUG today...but not posting much.

To the person who reported my post: Any dummy can click on anyone's user name and see when they visited TUG last - so get a grip.
