Yesterday I learned that Ohio ranks 5th in the Nation for Human Trafficking. Among cities, Toledo ranks 4th. I am in Ohio so this is troubling to me.

Is there a link for this?

A link for the statistic? A quick google search of Ohio human trafficking will pull up atleast 10 pages on the subject.

Laura, far be it from me to say that human trafficking is not a problem and shameful wherever it occurs, but 'do a quick Google search' for the subject is hardly authoritative. More facts, and less Chicken Licken 'The sky is falling', please.

As long as people want underpaid workers and sex slaves, and there are unscrupulous people to provide uneducated and vulnerable people to do it, human slavery will exist.

I guess it would be worse to rank number one?

Last Fall DD was in Laredo (?) TX for a day or so. She was absolutely panicked that she was going to be kidnapped. I tried to reassure her that she'd be ok as long as she was with people she knew and out only during daylight. She was ok, but I can see why she was scared, after seeing the movie "Taken".

I facebook friended the woman who wrote the book "The Slave Across the Street". She now lives in Columbus.

Today she posted this:

http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/dall...ed-on-human-trafficking-charge-207445901.html

Investigators said Lekas drugged a 15-year-old classmate two weeks ago with Alprazolam, marijuana and alcoholic beverages, and wouldn't let her leave for three days.
In that period, according to the affidavit against him, Lekas let men have sex with the girl "in exchange for U.S. currency and narcotics."

I am completely repulsed by this person and his (alleged) actions. I barely have words.
