What option is best. Wyndham RCI points etc

I am looking at buying 212000 wyndham points off of ebay. I have read where this is a bad thing, to deal with ebay. It says it comes with RCI memebership for transfering points. I have read the discussions on points and see that Wyndham & rci points are not the same. If that is the case how do I know this is a good option or not. What is the best exchange company? I know I will always want a 2 br 2 bath, annual usage, floating week, Prime, and may want to go outside of wyndham. Also, could I buy at a resort that has low MF's and still use the nice resorts. If this is the case why doesnt everyone look at like that. I mean why pay $1000 yr MF when you can pay 400 MF's and still stay at the same resorts and get the same benefits. Also, why not buy alot of points and have extra weeks to rent out each year, which would end up paying for ALL the fees. What are the details on that.
I have read some of the stickys (alot) but I am still lost. Need advice so I do the right thing.

Any you haave been researching and reading about Wyndham and exchanging for HOW LONG?

Wyndham has great resorts to basicly use and stay at. If you want to visit other locales 20-30% of the time, exchanging thru RCI is the Wyndham exchange company. It comes with a yearly paid membership in RCI Weeks and there is an online PORTAL to go directly from Wyndham to RCI. Easy and it works.

Now, if you tell us (me) you want to primary do exchanges with RCI and II, get an independent resort (most chains are TIED to either RCI or II) thru which you can exchange to.

As for Wyndham, I doubt is the SPREAD on MFs is going to be 60% (either $1000 or $400) for 212K in points -- By the way, that is an ODD number of points in Wyndham -- more likely, 203K. Other usual numbers are 28k, 49k, 56k, 77k, 105k, 126k, 154k, 189k, 203k, 231k, 308k, .... Wyndham sales used to do a "step" method in selling and the points need for booking a week, seem to follow those "steps" ... NOT that ODD BALL deeds weren't sold ...

As to what size deed do you need to buy? 2/2 unit => but at what resorts and SEASON are you looking to travel? Use the Wyndham points charts to look up your points needed for your TOP 3-5 resorts. 203k may have you short in the newer PRIME season times; older resorts, that would most likely get you a week.

Mostly on MFs: $5 per 1k of points is very good. $6 per 1k of points with the ARP you need is OKAY. And be sure that includes the Club fee of $.54 per1k ==> can't get out of paying it, but some of the ads don't tell you about it. Seems to be they know, if the MF fee appears lower, the bids might be higher. A SMART buyer, always asks for a detail breakdown and if the PROGRAM fee is included. (Wyndham does charge some members who have Plus Partners $.57/k, but you have to have brought from Wyndham for that option).

I use $6 as my rounding number: so a 203K week, would cost about $1200 in MFs.

Yes, I have been trying to figure all this out. Reading but not understanding. I did make a mistake on the amt of points, it is 231K, What I find on the points website would work. I would want to travel to other places but would normally want the same which is Fla. So the norm would be a 2bd 2ba red or prime floating week annual usage. Which looks like it would take 203K points IF im looking at it right. Question is how that works with RCI and banking the points for usage at another resort. What I understand is 231 points doesnt' equal 231 points with rci. Sorry to sound so dumb...

Now, if you are talking FL Wyndhams, MANY of them require ARP and booking HOME resort at the 13 month from checkin date at 8AM -- NOT 8:05, 8AM.

Like President's Birthday week at Royal Vista, Nascar at Ocean Walk, Christmas at Bonnet Creek ...

Others like Palm Aire for President's B-week or July 15 at Ocean Walk or early Dec or late Jan at Bonnet Creek, you can get outside of ARP.

Wyndham FLA resorts do NOT have floating weeks ... I almost believe that Wyndham went directly from Fixed Weeks to Points.

Which resorts and timeframe are you looking at?

Ocean walk in Daytona, weeks High or Prime or June-July. Now eventually I'd probably want to go to other wyndhams or even to an affiliate resort and maybe at different times of the year. I looked at all the resort point charts and it seems with over 200k I could get something good. Again, if Im looking at it right. Now I can't find the listing on ebay for those points. Only ones with lower or higher...

When you say Fl wyndham doesn't have floating weeks. What exactly does that mean? Is it like a fixed week where you cant go outside of it. Also, does it cost alot to be a member to bank and rent through rci? How is that different than club wyndham? I guess it doesn't matter where my home resort is, as long as I have enough points needed for what kind of room I want according to the points chart for W.

Wyndham points do not convert to RCI points the two should never be used in the same sentence

If you own Wyndham points you will also have an RCI weeks account provided by Wyndham. And you can use your Wyndham points to exchange for RCI weeks

There is a link on your Wyndham website to take you into RCI (The Wyndham RCI portal) where you can do the exchange..You will see RCI weeks available, denominated in Wyndham points

Is it like a fixed week where you cant go outside of it. Yes, but your window of booking might be 3-5 months. Also, does it cost alot to be a member to bank RCI & II membership fees are extra and rent through rci Renting is different than trading? How is that different than club wyndham?CWP/CWA is a closed exchange system where some of your exchange costs are prepaid via ownership fees of the CLUB.
I guess it doesn't matter where my home resort is, as long as I have enough points needed for what kind of room I want according to the points chart for W. Yes and no -- it matters IF you need a certain week that is the HIGHEST of DEMAND weeks for an area - Like the Nascar races at Ocean Walk.

You need to be clear that YOU can either buy points for the lowest of MFs or for ARP (that is the booking window 12-13 months) before checkin. If a week is NOT BOOKED at the 10 month to the day before checkin, you can use your available points to BOOK that unit.

Please understand the TIMESHARE systems - almost everywhere - base their booking and costs on a 7 night stay mostly starting on either a Friday or Saturday afternoon (some resorts do have standard SUNDAY afternoon checkins). While Wyndham appears to allow you to checkin ANYTHING, the system is set up for the standard Fr & Sa (and some resorts Su) - there might be additional costs and moving between units during that NON-STANDARD stays. With Wyndham, doing stays under 7 nights will also costs you more Housekeeping fees (HKs). Doing multiple short stays (say 3 night weekends), you will expend your allotment of HKs and Reservation Transactions (RTs) EVERY YEAR. Yes, you can get more HKs and RTs ... you just have to PAY when YOU book your vacation stay. Also, if you change your vacation plans, that will cost you MORE RTs also. And you don't cancel your plans more than 14 days in ADVANCE, you simple LOSE your points and HKs. And with Wyndham (and many other systems), FRI and SAT nights cost MORE points than a WED night. Most systems are the same -Weekend nights cost more points to sleep there. Shell Vacations resorts are a bit harder - Mon,Tues & Weds nights are the cheapest; Sun and Thurs nights cost more but less than Fri & Sat nights. Also, send a friend - expect to pay a Guest Certificate ($99 after your 1st one for free with Wyndham).

I suggest you keep reading and maybe rent a couple of stays at DIFFERENT resorts -- each resort has a different personality (just like the neighborhoods where you live) ... I can sleep at almost all the Wyndhams -- I just like some of them better.
