It says a lot about SVN that they would even ask this question. I think they had it as part of earlier years forms, too, so it's not really a surprise...but it's still a bit nuts, IMO. I mean, who at SVN would seriously welcome a new prospect on the board who thinks they don't meet expectations?

As to those 3 categories asked about in the 2nd part of question 13 (Hospitality, Cleanliness of Villas and Overall Upkeep of the Resort), couldn't you answer - at least - that Starwood management at WKV meets your expectations?

Do you really have issues concerning the 3 categories? I've never seen complaints on TUG about the hospitality of resort staff at WKV, the cleanliness of the resort or the overall upkeep of WKV.

I actually thought you liked WKV. You seem to stay at WKV regularly and have posted that you generally prefer the Starwood timeshare resorts over the Marriott timeshare resorts you have stayed at because they are a step or two nicer.

I've seen complaints on TUG about the design of units at WKV (too dark), the Starwood-branded decor (too bland and corporate), financial decision-making by the HOA board (too closed), the split of revenue between Starwood and WKV in excess of MFs (the board rolls over and doesn't try to get more), the prices charged to guests for incidentals (too high) and a general questioning of the prices paid for expenses incurred at WKV (too high). But, Starwood hasn't asked applicants to comment about WKV in relation to any of those things.

I don't get your reluctance to accept the invitation to apply for the board. At the very least, later-in-the-process, face-to-face (or even phone) questions from a person solicitated to apply for the board would really be more effective than posting screeds and ridicule on TUG. Finally, I do not find Shawn O'Brien, Director of Board Relations for Starwood, to be a scary guy.

As a back-up response, at least take the time to fill out and send in an answer to the first part of question 13 stating why you have not enjoyed your vacation experiences at WKV:

You missed my point. Whether or not I think housekeeping and general maintenance of the resort is good or not, why would this be an appropriate question on an application for Board membership?

Actually, I think I've only stayed at WKV two or three times in the last ~7 years.

I don't get your reluctance to accept the invitation to apply for the board.

I'm already on one HOA (non-timeshare) board. I don't need another. Perhaps you should apply? ;)
