90% of success is just showing up

I was on the computer yesterday, looking for a reservation a customer wanted for next month......

Surprise...Surprise...I wasnt looking for it, but there it was, Worldmark was showing availability for the Superbowl...when the dust settled I had three reservations...one for 3 nights, one 2 nights and one for just Superbowl Sunday. I sent out a bunch of emails to past customers and to folks that had asked me about superbowl, And when it became clear the Ravens would win, my phone started ringing with folks from Maryland...

The only thing I can figure is that some group from Atlanta cancelled when their team lost. and I happened to be there at the right time and place to pick it up.

My father used to say that 90% of success is just showing up. Yesterday proved him right, at least when it comes to my little timeshare business

A big part of your thought is knowing where to show up. Was anyone else even looking? Too many times I show up but there was no dance. You just happened to look. Good for you.

Not sure on your cancellation theory though. Wouldn't the points have been forfeited by the original reservationist since it would have occurred within the 15 day cancellation period?

It's so true about "just showing up". This is the lesson I took with me when I was the lone bidder at the Marriott CH auction. Just show up and see what happens.

You were so far ahead of the game in getting these.

I use a similar thing with my kids. I use 50% of success is showing up. Gotta leave room for 1) hard work, 2) natural talent, 3) luck.

Im not sure either...Worldmarks cancellation policy is

For Reservations Made...............................No Penalty Cancellation Date
91 or more days before check in...................30 days before check in
15 to 90 days before check in ......................10 days before check in
48+ hours to 14 days before check in.............48 hours before check in
48 hours or less before check in......................No Cancellation Allowed

So either these were made recently or whoever had these reservations wasnt going and forfeited his credits

My theory is just a guess anyway...It really doesnt matter how it happened...it did

Sorry. I assumed it was a CWP reservation and not Worldmark.
