They're offering 20,000 HH points, but I'm curious if anyone's been able to get them to be more generous with the point gift to attend one of these things? I traveled west so I'm up at the crack of dawn anyway with nothing to do and I need the points for the Conrad Maldives next year. 20k just seems really low for an hour of my time. The HGVC NY gave me 65,000 to attend theirs so maybe my expectations are high.

(Talent advising not to attend in 3... 2... 1...)

Update: Apparently no one was up at the crack of dawn to advise me. I went through with the presentation. The guy shot the bull with me as I updated him on the new HH credit cards. (Reserve and it's free nights and the Surpass with the new 12 point per dollar on Hilton spending). He didn't seem interested in pestering me about purchasing so that was the end of it. Less than an hour. 20k HH points for 49 minutes of my life. Not too bad.

Actually, that sounds good to me. 20,000 HHonors Points = 800 HGVC ClubPoints. 800 * .18 = $144. Or more importantly to be is that it's 800 less ClubPoints that I would have to convert to HHonors Points for Venice. :cheer:

I'll have to check out one of the local Vegas properties and see if I can get that deal, or better, next year. :D

No, no. I'll admit that's not a bad deal.
After all, we all have a price. I'm not sure what mine is.

My price once was 65,000 points, but I recall being offered 20k in Hawaii and 20k in Orlando (passing on both), so I assume it's the standard offer outside of NY.

I'm looking at gathering 145,000 to do an AXON award for a 4 night stay at the Conrad Maldives next year, plus another 2 nights using my 2 free night certs from the Hilton Citi Reserve card.

I value my HH points at about a penny each because I'm picky about where I use them. The redemption at the Conrad Maldives is 1.7 cents per point using the AXON award. Generically I'd call 20,000 HH points $200. But in the case of knowing exactly where they are going, I'm calling it a $342.06 payment for my time.

And honestly, it was even more low-pressure and casual than the NY presentation. I'd do presentations like that all day long for 20k HH points per hour.

Oh, and the points posted today. Much faster than NY and long before the 60 to 90 days on the receipt.

Anytime you book Vegas and don't have a presentation on your record the previous year, they'll call ahead of time and try to sell you on free dinner and show tickets to attend a presentation. Look for a 702 area code on your caller ID.

Just say no thanks and mention that you'd really like to have more HH points. For some reason they push the tickets and dinner rather than the HH points in Vegas. I ignore the calls so they got me with it at the front desk and I said "For 50,000 HH points you can have me all morning." He said, oh, we can give you 20,000 HH points for an hour and the deal was done.

I stayed in LV a couple years back (1st time with HGV). The number of messages they left on my room answering machine was incredible. I loved how they never said "sales presentation" in the message. The best one was saying they wanted to show me around the town and tour their newest HGVC on the strip and give me a free diner meal for 2 at the Hilton. Luckily on was there on a convention so my meals were paid for.

I got $150 towards the new spa at the LV Strip. The day use of the steam room was great. Unfortunately it took two massages to be able to relax after my owner's update, sales upgrade.;) The gift is comparable, but still not worth it IMO.

For 49 minutes, maybe, but not the 3 hour marathon I had to endure. You have to share your tips on how to reduce the time. If I could get out of there in under 1 hour, I may try it again. Maybe some "tuning out training" is required!

Thanks for the information of the new HHoner surpass card.

I just went on line to apply for one. I will cancel my old 9 points per dollar on Hilton spending. I will use the new card to pay the HGVC MF. I already paid some with the old card. I certainly will be able to meet the $3,000 spending requirement to get the additional 20,000 HHoner points award after the initial 40,000 HH points for applying. Not bad to get the 60,000 points from the new HHoner Amex surpass card. I will tried to use the new card more often. Currently we use the citi AAdvantage card to earn American Airline mileage. We can earn enough points to fly to Hawaii from NY for two every year.
