Why does II have multiple codes for the same resort?

I've just been curious about this and wondering if anyone knows the answer? For example, Marriott's Grande Vista in Orlando is both MGV and MGR, and availabilities for both codes are listed separately. I've always wondered why.

With that particular resort the difference is that some ownerships are part of the Florida Club and others are not. It doesn't impact the II exchange value whether you're depositing or exchanging into a week at the resort.

There are a few other Marriotts with several II codes based on the phases of building openings and with an II exchange you're limited to the particular buildings. Maui Ocean Club is one of those but I can't think of any others off the top of my head.

For many resorts there are multiple ownership groups within the resort. So In the case of Riviera Beach resort in San Clemete, there are owners at the resort who own only at that one resort and owners who own there via the points ownership in Monarch grand vacations Therefore there are 2 codes for the resort.
