I made an II exchange today, but not sure that I want to prepay my 2013 fees. I am getting an AC from II because of II daily deals, and wondering if anyone has used an AC before and if they have much trading value??? It might be a deal breaker when I bring it up to Jeanette... lol

There are different types of AC's. Some are very restrictive and can only be used on a grid of locations and months. I got one a few years ago for renting a Getaway week and it was so restrictive that I never was able to use it. I'd ask them what kind of restrictions are on the AC - this isn't info that they offer up freely.

We recently received one as a result of trading one of our resorts. It had a grid like mentioned earlier, so it was somewhat limited (ie. no high seasons from what I could tell). However, we were able to reserve a Marriott 2 BR unit in Orlando for next April and the cost was $349. A 1 BR or studio costs less. A regular exchange fee is $149 as I recall, so we basically paid an extra $200 and received what we think is a nice unit.

Some of the areas available were international as well.

So depending how flexible you are and where you want to go, it can be a good deal. But, it isn't a free week other than you don't have to relinquish another one of your own weeks.

Good luck.

The one we got could only be used within 59 days of check-in and I think that's the same type they're offering for an exchange today.

I thought I read an older post that said Starwood deposits did not get ACs? Is that still accurate? I completed an exchange today that had a bonus week listed at checkout, but I see nothing in my account.

I don't think that promotion had anything to do with it being a Starwood deposit. The promotion I saw gave you a restricted AC for any exchange done yesterday.

OK, thanks. I completed an exchange yesterday, and checked the button at checkout for the Bonus Week. I don't see anything in my account yet. Do they typically appear right away, or later?

I think it might take a couple days. Seems like they usually email it to you. I'd call them if you don't get it in a few days. I hope you're able to use it.

It came via email today - good for booking inside of 60 days, may not be used for any Starwood (home resort affiliation exclusion), normal exchange fee applies.

I'm just curious if anyone has used these before and would know - when I search with the certificate, I still see all the Sheraton and Westin resorts as bookable. Is that a fluke? At what point would the exclusion apply? I don't see the Four Seasons Scottsdale with it (which I can see with other units/certs), which is one of the other excluded groups.
