We (wife, 11-year-old son, 9-year-old daughter, and I) are scheduled to check-in to a one-bedroom at Harborside in early August and our check-in day is Friday. I know that check-in day can determine which units are available. A couple of questions:

1. What are our options for a Friday check-in .for a one-bedroom unit? (in terms of view and building)
2. Any suggestions for requests?
3. What are the different types of view and which do you prefer?
4. Any other suggestions?

We are staying on staroptions through SVO but are not owners at HRA so we understand that we might not get exactly what we're asking for (and it might not even be available). Plus, we don't plan on spending too much time in the room - :D so view might not be that important. Anyway, thanks in advance!

I checked in on a friday once using staroptions. I was given building 6 third floor facing the water with a view of the bridge connecting paradise island and nassau. It was not noisy and a slight longer walk to the shuttle bus

You are smart to request specific buildings. We requested water view and checked in late at night. The next morning we were awakened by what sounded like a boat of angry New Jersians about to come through our window. We were at the end building, right where the tour boats turn around and dock. After that we were happy to look at another building instead.

Friday Check-in:

Phase I - Building 2 (generally a view over the pool. Higher is better.)

Phase Ii - Building 6 (newer phase; generally a view called promenade - looking across a walkway at another building; higher is only a little better)

I'd go with Building 2. However, if you are an II trader you are not entitled to a (non-guaranteed anyway) preference. ... eom

This.

Not only do you not spend much time in the room, Harborside is really very compact and the distances involved are really pretty minor.

And if you're in the standard/smaller one-bedroom, you're unit might not have a balcony, so the only place there'd be a view is from the bedroom window. The interior living room window looks out on the interior walkway of the building.

Bottom line is don't sweat this detail. Ask nicely when you arrive if you want something different, but no matter the assignment it's not worth getting worked up over.

What about a Sunday-to-Sunday check in? What buildings are available/used?
building 1 is the phase 1 buliding available for sunday check in, i forget the phase 2 building. There is a thread and a map that gives the details, use the search feature.

This question sure does get asked alot, maybe a more clear link under the starwood FAQ is in order? Ahem, denise ;)
