Is there a $3.95 service charge on all American Express Gift Cards? I wanted to order several of them and that fee adds up. I found a code for free shipping but that is it.

This is the problem with many credit card company gift cards. They have to charge the fee to make money. With store based cards, they are guaranteed you will have to return to that store to make money. Credit Card branded gift cards don't have that luxury and have to make money to cover the administration of the cards as well as profit.

With some research I found a code that will deduct the $3.95 fee for each card ordered, it is good through 12/31.. EMOCTWL.. Also if you choose Premium Shipping you get a 90 day free trial on the next day free shipping. Just remember to cancel it before the 90 days..

Its too late now, but OfficeMax had a Black Friday deal wherein you could buy a $100 Visa or MC gift card, pay a $6 activation fee, and get an instant discount of $15. The limit was 1 per customer.

You might also check with a non-profit near you.

I'm in charge of a gift card fundraiser at my kids' school. We can sell Amex gift cards at face value (no service fee) and actually are able to give a small rebate to our purchasers. The program is generally called "Scrip". Call churches, catholic schools or even public schools near you to see if there is a local program.

Or if you live in the greater Kansas City area, you could join our program :)

Let me know if you have any questions I might be able to answer.

did you actually use it. I found and tried that as well ( and jsut did again since I saw your post, I thought perhaps I mistyped it ) ...no good..expired ( the OCt is for October, apparantly).

Anyway, I did find a code last year but I havent been successful yet......please post if you find any others that might work.
