Anybody notice that on booking day, the Marriott vacation club website goes down? Does anybody know why? Same thing happened last year.

Booking day=More volume on the website. The servers apparently can't handle that extra volume and go down.

Many people here suggest being online at the same time you are calling. Whichever gets you the reservation first is what you end up using.

That's what I've done in the past but last year was the first time I experienced the website being down. I don't know about Marriott....constant frustration.

Wow-shocked I got my Canyon Villa's week for 3/10/2012 with no problem. Got it thru the website!
Leap Year to Our Rescue
I too noticed that the site was down earlier in the morning. "Typical" was my first thought. But after a few minutes, I was able to log on. Got nervous, couldn't get the reservation calendar to load, realized it was only 8am on the east coast.
At the correct time, the calendar came up with all 3 check in days available. Considering the difficulty I have had in the last several years, I can only attribute this availability to leap year. I bet that many owners will try to make their reservations tomorrow morning and wonder what happened! So a big THANK YOU to the OP from a few days ago that jogged my memory about leap year reservation days!!
