Hello All,

Does anyone know how I can puchase only points to the HGVC (I own a TS but would like to purchase points only). How do I go about it and what is the usual charge for each 1,000 points. Where can I purchase them?

Thanks for your help.

Yes you can, as a membership trial - like a try it out program but you are limited in using certain HGV Club Properties. It is called the "Vacation Introduction Program - Last time I checked it was $1,595 for 7000 VIP Points. You had 15 months to use it. This was offered for those who went to the presentations and did not buy as a try it program.

I don't think obtaining a VIP will accomplish what tushfeet is asking? Of course I am just guessing as to what tushfeet is thinking, but I surmise that tushfeet is asking is if you can buy points to plus up the points he already has or to buy points to use at whatever HGVC resort he wants with no future obligation like MF. i.e. I have 4300pts (nothing I can borrow forward) but need additional 1000pts to stay 1 week in Las Vegas. Can I buy just 1000pts from whomever? I believe the answer is "no." Also, if I understood VIP correctly, although HGVC gives you a points equivalent to stay 1 week at whatever resort, you can't break it up the points and you must stay the whole week. That would be interesting if you could ask to use X amount of points to stay at Las Vegas for 3 nights and the rest of the points to stay 3 nights in Florida. If I was HGVC I would allow it however I would make you sit through 2 x 1 Hr sales pitch, one in Las Vegas and the other in Florida.:D

@Denise sorry if my answer still crosses the line. If it does, you might consider moving the topic to "buying/selling/renting forum" because the question it shelf is about "buying/selling/renting".

Deros - Clarification: it is perfectly fine to discuss selling or renting in the abstract, but actually offering rentals/sales in the forums is not permitted. Your current post is completely appropriate.

That is incorrect. You can book as little as 3 nights and max of 2 reservations. So you can split the 7000 points into 2 stays. I purchased this in 2009 after I sat through a presentation and realized the cost for an extra 7000 points was worth the $1,595. (At that time I owned only 3,400 HGVClub Points) There is a points grid per resort. You can have a studio to a 2 bedroom on 10 HGVClub Resorts - 3 in Orlando, 2 in Las Vegas, 5 in Hawaii. You can book 9 months out.

Let me get this right... You bought a VIP package that was equivalent to 7000pts. You then used the 7000pts to break it into two different reservation? Did you have to sit through 2 sales presentation or just one during your VIP stays? I stand corrected. I guess you can just rent points per se, as long as you are willing to listen to a 1 hr sales presentation.

@Denise On my first post I never offer to rent anything out. I just gave my opinion of renting out just points vs a week. But hey, your the moderator and if you read that I was trying to rent then I must have been trying to rent.

I only had to sit through the initial one. It was the offer to buy this instead of upgrading my 3,400 points that I had. I did not have to sit through two other presentations during my stay.

As I recall, you posted something like, "Send my your dates and I can see what's available." If I misread that, my apologies.

The general answer is NO. You can't purchase HGVC points. HGVC TS generate points but without a HGVC TS - no points.

Can you buy points from HGVC to complete a vacation (if you're already a HGVC owner) ? Again NO You can borrow pts from the next year's use but you can't buy pts.

The only way to "buy HGVC points" is to purchase from HGVC a trial membership ( called VIP) and the restrictions of the use of those points may be a problem.

Lastly, you can contact a HGVC owner and have them make a reservation and then rent that reservation from them.

Hope this helps

There are places to rent HGVC points. Some people advertise on TUG, RedWeek or myresortnetwork to rent points. Many brokers do as well. A broker who specializes in rentals is:

Toll Free: 800-421-2205 ext: 7101
Local: 407-465-5160

She has no affiliation with my company. She just does a very good job helping renters.
