We have a trip planned for June and Southwest just released their schedule through June 4th so just I checked car rental prices and it's still nuts. We'll be on Oahu and have always rented a car in the past because we like to explore all over the island. Is uber/lyft dependable on Oahu? What are your favorite car rental places these days? I checked Autoslash so far. Should I attempt to pick up a rental near my timeshare instead of the airport? We'll be at Royal Kuhio in honolulu.

Rideshare is always a tough way to tour. Great for getting A to B, but if B is a waterfall or remote beach, getting from B to A or B to C and so on can be more challenging. I look at the way we like to tour, take a circuitous route and hit planned and spur of the moment spots along the way, rideshare just isn't built for that. If you mean how dependable is rideshare if you need it to get to a rental place, then I'll apologize for the diatribe and say it's pretty dependable.

I've no comment on where to rent, as I've never been to Oahu......

I live right across the street from the Royal Kuhio. I would lock something in and enter it into Autoslash. When I was traveling here a the time we found our best prices with Costco but Discount Hawaii Car Rental is good too.

Yes, Uber/Lyft does work good here as does Doordash and Grubhub to order food. I wouldn't use ride share to tour places on the island though. The bus is another option because the bus system is very good here. Your best option is still to get a car though.

They just finished the pool. I'll post picture when I get home.

DH works for a major tech company and its AVIS code provides about 50% discount. If you or your spouse work for a large company, check if their discount codes work. We never got such a large discount before the rental car price hike.

Yes, I just started using this in the last two years also. My company has a code through Hertz and it has been much better than Costco. I have to book through an app for work trips and I use a code and choose leisure through the Hertz website when it is personal travel.

I had my wife up and walking the hallway and I remembered about posting a picture of the pool at the Royal Kuhio. Here you go.
