I stayed in Xcaret about a year after it first opened. It is a beautiful resort with good dining options. It's Architectural digest material. Aside from the beauty of the resort the main reason to stay there is the free and easy access to the Xcaret parks. You could go by a short bus ride or a little canal boat. They have a lot of pools but some of them were too cold to use in January. There is also not much of a beach if that is what you are interested in. I found that aside from swimming and eating there was not a lot going on at the resorts themselves other than a dinner show. At the time it did not have activities at the resort. If your intention is to speed a lot of time at the three main parks of Xcaret this resort is great. If you just want a pretty resort with a lot of quiet time and good food this resort is great. If you want foam parties and pool games not so much. At least that was what it was like when we went. I would go back but it cost a lot more than it used to and we are getting a little old for the ziplines so doubt we will go back but would not hesitate if the price was right.
