Wyndham Update for Travel and Leisure Program?

Going to a Wyndham update tomorrow morning at Panama City Beach. I thought about going to it last week in Pompano Beach, but they were not offering as much. I know the torture I will endure that’s not the problem. Kind of looking forward to it since I haven’t had a chance to bitch since becoming a Hybrid owner.

Here is my question
The rep at Pompano Beach told me I had to be signed up for the Travel and Leisure program before I can take advantage of it. There was not charge to get signed up for it, but you had to do it at an update. Is any of this TRUE? I know they will always try to sell me something or more of something. I’m just curious about the Travel and Leisure program as the rep in Pompano told me it would give me more resorts to access I.E. Worldmark resorts which now I do not have the ability to book. IS THERE ANY TRUTH TO THIS? I’m still going because I want the goodies and for the other reason I already mentioned.

TIA
Jules

Pure BS from sales. Typical FOMO sales tactic used. Beware the daze and confuse half truths always employed. When they say there’s more resorts - what they mean is that when you sign up for TravelUp (after buying developer points of course) you can book into Wyndham timeshare resorts (Worldmark as well) via that program (not unlike how you can currently do the same via WR). That’s all out of pocket cash mind you - but they skate over the very pertinent details that most buyers would want to know. Like the fact that they cannot use their timeshare points for TravelUp reservations.

Marketing, the people getting you to sign up, always gave some reason you need to go to a sales meeting.

Plus Partners gives you Worldmark exchangeability, and he already has Plus Partners as a hybrid owner. Travel Up only gives you discounted travel deals like car rentals, etc., certainly not worth buying in to get imho.

There is no program that you have to go to an update to join that won't cost you anything. You have to buy more points to be eligible for travel up. If you do then you don't need to pay to join but that is ignoring the fact that the new purchase is required. Travel and Leisure (vacation club) is something anyone can join for $14.99 a month with a free month to try it out. No presentation required. https://clubtravelandleisure.com/ If you think you get fabulous discounts using the rci travel platform, you might get a 1-2% additional discounts on the same type of inventory. I don't have it but that is my impression.

It’s more than a buzzword actually, Panorama is the rebranded entity at T&L that includes RCI and other travel platforms:

Did the update at Panama City Beach. Salesperson Erin was pretty vague about Travel Up cost BS. First rep got kind of snippy with me when she went to look up my accounts which I’m involved in more than 1 account she insisted all the accounts that had my name on them would show up, I told her she should only look up the account I was traveling on now and I’m primary owner on. She insisted she had to look at them all and she was not going to argue with me. I knew she wouldn’t find both accounts, off she went. She never did return to table. Someone else Bryan came and went on about the Legacy crap and contracts dropping off. Told him I’m not worried about any of that I’ve got it handled. He chatted for a bit and sent us off to gifting. Took 70 mins with breakfast and a speaker. As gift we received 150.00 AMEX and 7 nite resort stay and 3 day 2 nite hotel stay. Both certificates may be worthless to most folks cause they don’t want to hassle with the fine print. I’ll make that work. Also got 2 large 32 Oz Wyndham to go cups with sucky straws and 2 drink tickets for tiki bar. Worth my time Differently.

The buzzwords and new programs are comparable to a Venus fly trap. Consider yourself a unfortunate fly if you take their bait!

Help me out please! Told at Wyndham Kingsgate today that Wyndham is changing with T&L, and terms of our VIP membership will change unless we go in person to a rep to make sure we remain in our "legacy" program. Otherwise, we will lose benefits like unlimited housekeeping credits, points discounts, etc. Has anyone else heard this? I would expect its just more lies, but wondered if anyone else has had this "talk." Thanks.

Mostly just lies and fabrications to get you to a sales presentation where they will tell you more lies and fabrications to sell you more timeshare. The person telling you this is reliant on you going so they can earn incentives and bonuses. They will tell you stuff just to get you to go so they get paid.

They're 100% lying; your VIP benefits won't change.

The latest thing they're pushing is Travel Up. You can get better discounts than it offers so ignore that too.

You don't have to go to anything and can request to not be asked in the future. Send an email to: donotcall@wyn.com
Request to be put on the do not sell/gift list. Include all the names on your account and your owner number.

We see some posts here on TUG from owners like you but nothing even close to how many I and some other Tuggers see in the different Wyndham Facebook groups. It's really sad how many owners get upset at the lies and misinformation they're told in the updates and how they resent losing their vacation time to these unpleasant experiences.

Some people want the reward points, Visa/Amex cards or whatever discounted tickets are being offered and are willing to give up some of their time to get that. Even some of those owners who are very experienced in going to the updates and normally able to deal with the typical b.s. sometimes get upset by what they're told in the updates. Some salespeople can be really obnoxiously aggressive in pushing their lies and misinformation.

Everyone makes their own choices about whether or not they're willing to subject themselves to the updates and if whatever they get is worth it to them. However for most owners they'd be so much better off never going to another update. Seniors in particular as they make the best vulnerable targets for salespeople to manipulate!

We make a game of it. assuming they give us something worthwhile $125 equivalent is my minimum We look for half truths in the video, and then wait to see what our sales person is spewing. Last couple we had sales people who immediately understood we were not going to buy anything and had pleasant conversations about how the system actually works. the last one did not even present an offer. He said he was a newish owner and we gave him tips on how to best use the system and discussed a couple of resorts. We have had a couple that have fed us the usual bull, I correct them and cut them off at the end of the allotted time. The game iswhat is the biggest whopper they tell and does it top previous sales people's lies.
