Resorts Owned
Hilton Grand Vacation - 2 platinums, Wyndham - 1 week, WorldMark 2 weeks
I am new to Wyndham - figured out Hilton which uses points but a Hilton point works at all Hiltons. With Wyndham its different is it? If a person buys Club points - do they work at all locations or ? There is extra vacations that I see and what else? is there a simple answer? I see there are deals to get 600,000 points for $300 a month so around $3,600 a year - gets you 5 weeks worth of holidays if get 1 bedrooms does it? but at what resorts? ALL or?

Can't tell -- as you surmised, there is no simple answer. Each resort has its own points chart. Some have more than one. Points/week depends on location, seasons (could be Prime, High, Value, Quiet), size of unit, view (sometimes), upper or lower floors (sometimes), and whether the unit is a Deluxe or Presidential unit or neither.

I own both Hilton and Wyndham. So I can compare them readily.

Where has HGVC has a pretty standard point system where most resort are the same season and number of points for size of units, but there is exceptions like Grand Waikikian, Grand Islander, NYC, and the new Barbados property. There are far more Platinum and Gold time in HGVC's system. There are very limited locations that even have a Bronze time. A few more have Silver time. So the points are a little more uniform.

In the Wyndham system there are some baselines for the old original resorts in the system, but there is much more variation in the points requirements. New resorts are often more points than the old levels. So you have to look at which resorts you want to go to. However Wyndham has a LOT more locations than HGVC does, as they are too concentrated in the same locations. So that is a plus for Wyndham. They are also located in a lot of locations that truly have seasonal demand. So if you can travel in the off season your points will go much farther. So it is worth taking a look at the points requirements for where you want to go
Here is a link to newest guide that has all the points by resorts.

As a resale purchase you will NOT have access to the Club Pass and any of the Worldmark Properties. You will receive an allotment of Transactions and Housekeeping credits (HKC) based on your ownership. So unlike HGVC where you ONLY get HOME week fee free for reservations, with Wyndham you get an allotment. HGVC does not have a Housekeeping concept, but you have that with wyndham. If you take too many weekend trips you will run out of housekeeping units, and you will have to pay 2.25 per housekeeping credit required.

You get 1 Free transaction Per 77K in points, after your allotment is up it is $19 per ONLINE transaction. Costs more if you call. You also get 1 HKC per 1K of points owned. HKC are fixed based on unit size that is booked for the reservation. So it is possible on resale to have to pay for some extra Reservation Transactions and HKC. But reservations are cheaper than in the Hilton System, as they are $67 per reservation online.

And just in case the OP was also comparing HGVC and Hilton hotels (don't know if HGVC points can be used in Hilton hotels...), Wyndham likes to talk about their "Blue Thread" (which is marketing brou-ha-ha) but you can use your points for hotel stays in all Wyndham brand hotels (and there are a LOT of 'em) by exchanging for Wyndham Rewards points, but it is a really lousy value...

Cheers!

Thank you very helpful info. To make sure I'm understanding this correctly -- Club Wyndham Plus points purchased resale will not provide any reservation access to WorldMark properties at the 10 month mark, correct? They are simply considered out of the network?

Can you also clarify what the difference is between Club Wyndham Plus and Club Wyndham Access?

Thank you,
Harold

Correct with a few caveats. The Club Pass program is the internal exchange program that allows Club Wyndham members to book Worldmark inventory 9 months out, but only points purchased from the developer can be used in that program.

The caveats:
There are a few Worldmark resorts where Club Wyndham has their own inventory.... ie Worldmark Taos, Worldmark Portland, South Shore, Angels Camp, etc. etc.
And you can always exchange into Worldmark resorts thru RCI

But in terms of direct booking of Worldmark units - only with developer points.

Club Wyndham Plus is the overall points program that the individual Clubs participate in. So Club Wyndham Access is a separate Club within Club Wyndham Plus points program. The other Clubs are Club Wyndham Select, Presidential Reserve, Margaritaville Vacation Club. Generally speaking each Club has separate inventory until the 10 month mark.

Thank you. And Club Wyndham Access? Is that a separate program that I've seen referenced on threads?

CWA is just one of the Club's within Club Wyndham Plus.

Club Wyndham Access is seperate because instead of a deed to an individual resort, CLUB WYNDHAM Access owners receive an ownership certificate for the amount of CLUB WYNDHAM Access points purchased.

The entire points program is called Club Wyndham Plus.

To participate in the Club Wyndham Plus program, you must be an owner at one of the separate Clubs that participate in the program - Club Wyndham Select, Club Wyndham Access, Presidential Reserve, or Margaritaville Vacation Club. With Club Wyndham Select being the most common.

At the other participating Clubs (Club Wyndham Select, Presidential Reserve, and Margaritaville Vacation Club) the owners have purchased a deeded interest to a specific property.

Each Club has it's own separate inventory, and has different rights on how inventory can be reserved more than 10 months out. But at the 10 month mark - almost all inventory is available to all Club Wyndham Plus members - which is why we commonly say "At 10 months - all points are the same".

Worldmark The Club is not part of the Club Wyndham Plus program.
Shell Vacation Club is not part of the Club Wyndham Plus program, though that is apparently about to change.
