Will RCI end up with EH ?

I believe Extra Holidays is a cash cow for Wyndham and they'll hang onto it. I believe the property on the news was their privately owner vacation property rental service.

You’ve complained about Extra Holidays availability being Wyndhams rentals.
Are you now saying Extra Holidays availability is not Wyndhams own rentals ?
Extra Holidays is 100% individual owners rentals ? All outside of Wyndham owned points-reservation rentals ?

Interesting question. If they do sell, it should cut down on conspiracy theories about room availability.

It might. But I still love a good conspiracy theory - especially one with empirical evidence to back it up.

Wyndham also has this arm for rentals other than Extra Holidays: https://www.wyndhamvacationrentals.com

We're in Destin and Panama City Beach FL for the winter and Wyndham has a lot of rental signs for these types of rental properties down here. They are not timeshares, they are privately owned vacation properties they manage. I assume some of the nicer properties are probably in the Presidential Reserve catalogs.

That headline is referring to Wyndham Vacation Rentals, not Extra Holidays.

"Wyndham Vacation Rentals The Company has decided to explore strategic alternatives for Wyndham Vacation Rentals, North America’s largest professionally managed vacation rental business."

"North American Vacation Rentals Business
During 2018, the Company decided to explore strategic alternatives for its North American vacation rentals business and during the fourth quarter commenced activities to facilitate the sale of this business. The assets and liabilities of this business have been classified as held-for-sale as of December 31, 2018. This business does not meet the criteria to be classified as a discontinued operation; therefore, the results were reflected within continuing operations on the Consolidated Statements of Income. For further details see Note 7 — Held-for-Sale Business to the Consolidated Financial Statements included in Item 8 of this Annual Report on Form 10-K."

There is a Wyndham/WorldMark resort in Steamboat Springs (CO), but there are many, many (many!) more units available through Wyndham Vacation Rentals. Our shuttle bus drivers were constantly reminding us to not get on just any Wyndham bus (and there were a LOT...!).

We are going to Park City soon and from what I see on the website, the same is true there, too...

It kinda ties into the AirBnB/death of the property management thread here: https://tugbbs.com/forums/index.php...f-a-multimillion-dollar-airbnb-scheme.286513/

Wyndham certainly has more reach than a local property management company...but probably less than AirBnB...

Cheers!
