Wyndham Points Resale Question

I'm considering purchasing Wyndham Club Access points through resale and am wondering about access to the different resorts. Most of the ad's I've seen list the continental US resorts and a few include the Hawaii resorts as booking options with the points. My question is whether there are different points systems depending on the home resort that does or doesn't include ALL of the Whydham properties.

It includes 99% of the wyndham clubs that are a part of wyndham vacation club. Buying resale gives you the same access as buying retail at a non VIP level. The only long term benefit of buying direct is the ability to use club pass to exchange into Worldmark resorts at 8 months and nightly stays through RCI. There are restrictions on Presidential Reserve and Margaritaville vacation club properties including reduced booking windows and in some cases like Margaritaville Pigeon Forge no booking access. Also know that just because a resort has the name Wyndham on it doesn't mean that it is accessible through the vacation club to anyone. There are hotels and some Worldmark and Worldmark pacific resorts that may have the name Wyndham or even Club Wyndham ____ and have nothing to do with the US based vacation club. There are very few non US resorts (a handful only currently) that you can book using Wyndham Vacation Club points.

To get a clearer picture, take a look at the directory:

Everyone has access to the resorts* in the Club Wyndham section at 10 months. The Associate/Affiliate locations are also "available" but I'd ignore them because there are precious few units allocated to them for Wyndham owners of any stripe. Club Pass (WorldMark) resorts are not available to any resale owners, but are also not that interesting because most of the in-demand inventory was booked by WorldMark owners before the Club Pass window opens. (The same is true for WorldMark owners trying to book Wyndham resorts via their version of Club Pass.) Margaritaville resorts have limited booking windows for any non-Margaritaville owner.

---------
*: If there is Presidential Reserve (PR) inventory at a particular resort, that inventory has limited booking windows for non-PR owners. For example, I just got back from Smugglers Notch, where I had a 3BR Presidential unit. There are also Presidential Reserve units at this resort, but I (probably) would not have been able to book one. I personally don't think that's a big deal.

Thanks for the replies. If I'm reading the directory correctly, it looks like most of the Hawaii properties are included in the 10 month window if your home resort is elsewhere.

Access is a little trickier. There are some HI contracts entrusted in Access, and if you can beat other CWA members to those, you can book them at 13 months. At 10 months, it is an open marjet for any Club Wyndham owners.

Can club Wyndham access points purchased resale be deposited into RCI? What restrictions do resale points have in RCI? Also, the CWA points sold resale appear dirt cheap compared to other VCs. Does Wyndham exercise ROFR on resale points? Other drawbacks?

I've been poking around eBay looking at Wyndham resale. I'm familiar with Club Wyndham Access and the points system (having owned a few years now), but I don't understand eBay listing that have points associated with a specific resort. For example, currently there is a Listing titled, "605,000 points Wyndham Ocean Blvd. SC" What is the difference between a Club Access Points contract and points associated with a specific resort? If I were to buy this contract (hypothetically), do those points combine with my Club Access Points, or am is the example I gave associated with a specific interval / week at Ocean Blvd? Trying to clearly understand what I might be buying.

No, those contracts would be tied to a deed at that specific property. From 13-10 months you can only reserve that property. From 10 months or less the points would work the same and you would combine with your access points to reserve any club Wyndham Resort.

The main purpose to buy at specific resort is to gain the extra booking window at that property if it has some really high demand specific time frame you want to go or the maintenance fee to point ratio is less and therefore more attractive.

That makes sense - as is so often the case, the type of contract one buys - points tied to a property or club access - depends a lot on what goals one has.
