I was hoping to get a large unit at Ocean Ridge next summer, but Edisto is a popular location, and I have no APR, so it is not to be. I did book a 2 bedroom plus, but there is no floor plan, so I wondered if anyone had information about that type of unit.
I booked it because the maximum occupancy is 8 as opposed to the maximum occupancy of 6 for a deluxe unit. Is there a loft? There won't be 8 of us, but we like to have some space for our two kids to have separate sleeping spaces whenever possible because our son has special needs and can be challenging at bedtime.
The only availability that would work for us would be the 2 bedroom plus or deluxe (some of those are higher point value), so I would appreciate any inside knowledge, and the TUG reviews do not mention the plus units.

Thanks!
Linda

Linda, unless someone here has actually stayed in a 2 bedroom plus, I would guess your best bet would be to call the resort and ask about the layout of the unit.

When I went there, I stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bath. The plus could be a 1/2 bath? I am not sure, but at some resorts a plus is a 1/2 bath.

I stayed at Ocean Ridge last Fall in the 2 bedroom unit that sleeps 6 with a check in day of Friday. I was told by the lady at the check in desk that these are the only units that are water front. These units need updating but the view is wonderful. I have booked for November and March because we enjoyed it so much and we got them for $200 & $240.
Best

If you go to Wyndham web site, log in and click on resorts.

It will bring up your resort and on the left hand side the are several options.

Just click on room layout for the unit you are interested in.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom with loft a little over a year ago. The stairs to the loft were a narrow spiral metal staircase. I went up and peek up there. There were twin beds up there. The unit was pretty old and in need of some care---torn couch, mold in the 2nd bathroom, dated cabinets. The worst thing was the large palmetto bugs that we kept killing in the unit. If we were staying more then 2 nights I would have been calling them in to do some exterminating. We did go back a year later and stayed in the King Cotton 3 bedroom unit. The difference was night and day!!! Would love to go back, but now that my daughter has moved, we probably never will be back to Edisto. Here's a picture of the livingroom/spiral staircase/diningroom/ of the 2 bedroom plus unit

@Sue - That is probably the plus unit. Since it says it sleeps 6 with privacy and 8 max, I figured there had to be a loft. It is also more points for the plus than the deluxe unit, so I thought there needed to be more space or something extra that the deluxe doesn't have.

I have read complaints about bugs at Edisto, but I have also read that people love it there, so I am torn. King Cotton has no availability at all for the week we want to travel (even though it is 10 months out), or we would have tried to get a 3 bedroom.

Thanks for the responses!

@paco - there is no floor plan listed for the plus unit for some reason:)

I do not know about the bugs, but our unit overlooked a pond with allegators and turtles, it was great. My wife dodged the allegator and feed the turtles.

FYI, if you look it up, the Palmetto Bug is just a "kind" name for what it really is: a North American Cockroach. I've seen plenty of reviews online regarding Ocean Watch, and most - if not all - mentioned having Cockroaches. I wouldn't call it infested with roaches, because the cockroach can be difficult - not impossible - to prevent. It's possible their exterminators are using the "bare minimum" of protection, which is to spray anytime they return.

They were the BIGGEST roaches I've ever seen! If we had only dealt with 1 or 2 of them, I wouldn't have been so freaked out. But we had to have killed at least 8 in the 2 nights we were there. Made me not get up in the middle of the night and I hoped they weren't in the bed! But we really did like Edisto, so we went again and stayed in a King Cotton unit a couple nights. Did see 1 very large roach there, but it was already on it's back and dying. So they do use some sort of exterminator. They did try to explain it away by saying it is a tropical area, but I've been to Hawaii over 20 times and have never seen one there. I've also been to Florida and the Caribbean several times and never seen them there.

W stayed in Bay Point when we when to Edisto. Nice units and no issues while we there. All units there are 2 bedroom/2 bath. Great view from the rooms and decks.

We stayed in two different sections in the gated area which sleep 8 the last few months. One was a Sunday checkin and was near the main pool. These units had a loft with a spiral staircase. These units were in terrible condition and had lots of bugs.

The other unit was across the street and was a Saturday checkin. The loft upstairs were stairs not spiral staircase, and the unit itself was in a lot better condition than the previous section. And no bugs.

I would go for the Saturday checkin sleeps 8 and not the Sunday.
