Never been to either resort, but have an unexpected trip to San Antonio. I’m bringing my 80+ year old mother with mobility issues. Which resort would be more accommodating for her and which is closer to the Riverwalk?

I would pick La Cascada. Parking is valet and easy to load and unload. Rooms, hallway and elevator is larger. Rooftop is a nice view. While still on the river, just at the water flow control dam, it is much quieter here than at the other location.

Riverside is a parking garage a block away, and loading and unloading is difficult. Lobby is postage size small, and elevator is small, thre is only 1 and often very busy. You are right in the thick of the riverwalk, but it is awfully noisy here.

Been to both about 15 times split between the two resort.

I haven't stayed at Riverside Suites, but I've been to La Cascada many times. One thing that might help with your decision is to look at Google street view for both resorts. As @Sandy VDH mentioned, Riverside is in the middle of things. Years ago there was a different bar next to Wyndham Riverside, and I read that there was a major noise issue. I also read that some of the floor plans at Riverside are rather unusual because the building was a remodel.

Overall, someone with mobility issues will find La Cascada to be less stressful.

On the other hand, the river and lots of restaurants are just outside the door of Riverside Suites. Be sure to plan ahead for a walking route near the river if you want to limit the stairs. https://www.sanantonioriverwalk.com/disability-access/

Thank you for the disability access to the Riverwalk. I will do a Google street view.

Riverside suites is immediately adjacent, actually above part of the riverwalk. So if you want to be "where the action is", stay at Riverside suites. If you want to be there, near all the bars, restaurants and shopping, it's a great location.

With this proximity comes some negatives. Noise, especially if you are on a lower floor, is unavoidable. Parking and resort amenities are lacking, the building is an old converted warehouse of some kind if I remember, like La Belle Maison in New Orleans, so the room are smaller an oddly layed out.

Honestly I prefer La Cascada, it's not too far from the riverwalk, and have a great rooftop pool and hot tubs, grilles, its walkng distance to an HEB grocery store and other restaurants. Rooms are spacious and more standard Wyndham feel. It's also on the river so you may get a room facing the river but it's the part of the river which is not "the riverwalk", so it's not loud. Last time I was there was in 2022 and got a 2BR Deluxe on the side facing the river, has a nice balcony overlooking it. There's also a public parking garage a couple blocks away you could park for like $6/day (the price may have changed since then)

I have stayed at both and can reiterate what has already been said. Riverside is in the heart of riverwalk, but their can be noise issues especially until the wee hours on weekends. Mobility is harder in the building as described, plus getting down to the riverwalk may not be that easy. La Cascada is definitely typical Wyndham fare, similar to Grand Desert (but smaller) in Vegas. Riverside is very much like La Maison in New Orleans. La Cascada has good access to the riverside/riverwalk (they are all connected) but the walk is probably 10-15 minutes to the center of riverwalk. Does your mother use a scooter?

LaCascada is my personal preference. Off the main beating path, much quiter and the rooms are much larger and nicer.

Thanks for all the advice, we're booked at La Cascada and was able to take advantage of the current Wyndham promotion. I was able to secure a handicap room for her.
