We just secured a March 2011 reservation at this timeshare with our friends account. While we have read the TUG reviews and visited the Wyndham website I was just wondering if any other TUGGERS have visited and have any input regarding this facility?

Thanks in advance.

Good Resort

I go there all the time. One of my favorite resorts. The customer service is excellent. Tower II was just refurbish it's where most of the action is i.e. check in, pools, transportation service etc. :)

Grand Desert is a beautiful location, off strip and great for families. March will be terrific weather and the desert will be in bloom. Yeah! :cheer:

They have a free shuttle that will take you to Harrah's which will put you in good proximity to get around the strip. Plenty of things to do in the area besides gambling also. Better to have a car but not totally necessary depending on length of stay. If it's a week, get a car.

Very nice resort...one of my favorites. A quick free shuttle ride to the strip... but far enough to get away from the crowds. My last visit was December 2009 and I'll be there again April 2011. Enjoy!

Love the resort - always stay there when in Vegas. One of the best parts IMO is that you are not far from the Vegas scene - a couple of blocks) but once you come into the resort you can leave it all behind. Also unlike staying in the casino hotels - they want you in the casino 24/7 and make it hard to eat or anything without going near a casino. This is a great place and the people are very helpful. If you are renting a car and want to go shopping for food - the last time we were there we found a Food 4 Less several miles beyond the strip . In fact we found a whole other world there. We actually did a FOx rental which was off site and less expensive and their lot was close to the store. Otherwise I find it more confusing to find a grocery store in Vegas unless you know it.

Ask for either a Strip view or a pool view from your unit. Your other choices are the low income housing or the airport. Try to stay away from tower 3. Picture a square with an offshoot from one of the corners. That offshoot is tower 3. It has its own small pool but everything else happens at the square made up of towers 1 & 2.
When we finally got into the resort, it was 3:30 am Eastern (12:30 their time) we were originally put in a unit with a split airport/low income view. When the sun rose in the morning it came in through the bathroom window, under the blinds that were not made to close completely and reflected off of a picture like a spotlight into my eyes while I was trying to catch up on my (lack of) sleep.
We fortunately were able to get another room with a pool view.

We are there now. I am in tower III and like the strip view, and being away the main activities. Short walk to the very nice adult pool and amenities in the center score. Nice to have a bar.

I totally DISLIKE the shuttle bus/parking pass tango. Three polite "no"s were not enough. I finally opened up the bazuka about lost priveledges, rising MFs, can't give the points away etc.

The shuttle driver we had was a piece of work. I will write up the experience in my feedback. We waved her down as it appears she was driving out of the complex. She CLEARLY saw me - all she had to do was point over where she was going - my DH ran after her and about get run over by her. Then as she drove the bus, she spent the whole ride on her cell phone.

This morning's breakfast was another adventure. There were 8 people in the line which moved at a snail's pace. there was ONE person working - taking orders and cooking. Why would you have only ONE person at 9 am?????????
about 9:30, 2 people showed up and the line cleared. After yesterday with not getting butter on my toasted bagel with butter and cream cheese. Today I checked - got the butter, but no cream cheese.

We love to stay at Grand Desert. We have learned not to mess with the shuttle. It's a pain to catch it. The strip is such a short walk, we just walk up to the strip. If we are too tired to walk back, it's usually only a $7 or $8 cab ride. As far as breakfast at the resort is concerned, we found that it's much easier to pick up a few bagels, or mini boxes of cereal, juice & coffee from the corner convenience store about 1/4 mile down the street. I'm not sure of the intersection, but you head towards Hard Rock instead of the strip.
Enjoy your stay.

There is a CVS just past the Hard Rock. Harmon/Paradise

The 3 bedrooms in tower 3 are nice. The 3 bedrooms and living room face the Strip. No other rooms on either side of you.

Towers 1 and 2 can be better if you are using the on site facilities, like the underground parking.

Hopefully the land between the Grand Desert and the Strip will be developed and not another parking garage.
