We recently booked Desert Rose Resorts in Las Vegas, using Wyndham Rewards hotel points, thinking it was one of their properties. Even review responses on Tripadvisor come from "Wyndham Destinations, Owner at Desert Rose Resort". However when I called to cancel, I was berated and mocked by the Wyndham help desk, accusing me of calling unprepared, not knowing the resort owner's name. If they're going to offer these properties on their website, isn't that something they should know, and not rely on us to figure out the partnerships? At the very least, offer these details in the confirmation email?

On another note, I haven't seen availability for Club Wyndham in Sedona for months. I called the resort directly, and got forwarded to their reservation department, at Extraholidays. Does Wyndham still own this property? I know that they sold the Wyndham Rouge Hotel, which has been renamed The Wild Resort and Spa. This is starting to get complicated.

While we enjoy renting Wyndham properties off season, we certainly prefer that owner's get first pick. We're brand new HGVC owners, which widens our options.

Desert Rose is a Shell Property, which is indeed a Wyndham Destinations family member. I shudder at saying it is Wyndham owned, though, because it is owner owned.

Interesting, I was told by a followup call to customer service that it was an Extra Holiday resort, and that I needed to call the resort itself to request my points be returned. Is Extra Holiday an exchange company like Interval and RCI? The hotel side of Wyndham seems out of the loop, they don't even have access to the reservation numbers.

Extra Holidays is Club Wyndham's rental arm, which in the current Travel + Leisure organization I believe does fall under Panorama which also includes RCI and other exchange and rental options. Perhaps the Club Wyndham resorts made available for Wyndham Rewards booking come to it via Extra Holidays.

So to sum up, Extra Holidays doesn't own or manage its own resorts, it's just a mechanism for Wyndham to rent units (including Club Wyndham, Shell, probably Worldmark, and I believe some others).

Looking at the Sedona availability calendar, it has sporadic inventory on the owner website every month going forward, and more regular availability starting in the summer (assuming because it's quite hot then). Unless you're not talking about availability with Club Wyndham points but possibly Wyndham Rewards points?

If you got it through Extra Holidays, there were no points involved, it would have to be a rental. If you called Wyndham Hotels, they have nothing to do with any of this.

One last thing that may be worth pointing out, since it seems you may not be a Wyndham owner at all, is that Wyndham Hotels and Wyndham Destinations/Travel + Leisure are two completely different companies. They obviously maintain some business connections but for instance, the fact that Wyndham Hotels sold a particular hotel has essentially no bearing on the timeshare business.

We're not Wyndham owners. I get that a Wyndham hotel have nothing to do with timeshare programs, that was more of me venting about losing our go-to in Sedona (under the false impression that Desert Rose and Club Wyndham Sedona had been sold too).

Since I've received a complaint from the help desk, that I need to come prepared and explain when a property booked on www.wyndhamhotels..com came from Extra Holidays, it helps to understand these relationships.
