We are Wyndham Discovery members and we are considering purchasing a membership with Wyhndam as we have used it often in the last year. Is there a difference between what we are buying if we purchase resale vs purchasing from Wyndham? Any advice is appreciated!

The only difference i know of is your resale points will not count towards VIP. Also, your RCI account will be a weeks account only and you do not get perks by Wyndham which from what I’ve heard isn’t worth it.
I’m a resale only member and have never had any issues booking anything. This year so far We’ve been the great smokies lodge and Panama City beach last month. We have Oceanside booked for April and Kona booked for June.
Good luck.

There are differences. The general consensus in the Wyndham forum is that for someone just starting out with Wyndham, the differences are not worth the tens of thousands extra cost versus a resale purchase.

If you are planning to own less than 1 million points, the decision to buy resale is a no-brainer.

The more important question then becomes "where to buy" if you want 13-month reservation priority at certain resorts.

The Wyndham discovery program has piqued your interest in timesharing, but maybe another system is a better fit for you.

Take a look at this link and post as a timeshare newbie. See what responses you get. If they direct you to Wyndham, then that really is the place to start.

Do you know if we can still sell points to offset maintenance fees as a resale owner?

Yes you can but I would suggest you only buy what you need. I wouldn’t buy more points than you need thinking that you can rent them.

You can no longer sell/rent points themselves to another owner. That ability was eliminated before I became an owner in 2011. You can only rent out your points via making reservations and renting them out, either on spec or at a renter's request.

Thank you for correcting me. I read the question wrong.
