Is anyone a member? Successful in finding exchanges/trades? Seems like there are so many places now to check for exchanges/trades/rentals! Normally I trade/exchange for west coast locations.

We are currently going through the purchase process on a unit that we found at Ownertrades.com.

I didn't have much luck with it. There's just not enough information on the site to be sure you are contacting someone who might want to trade the same time you do. I like TUG better. I won't spend $10 there again.

Same here. I e-mailed everyone that said they wanted a similar trade but many did not even respond. I'm passing on this site in the future.

I think the site has a great concept. I just think that a lot of the postings on it are out of date and people that have them out there have given up on them and not bothered to remove them.

Been a member of Ownertrades for years with GREAT success: Just got back from Phuket with a trade for our Newport; went to Williamsburg, Marbella, and a couple others that I cannot remember right now. You still need a Marriott timeshare that is in demand and high season to get the interest.

Very possible! All us members should write them and suggest they send out emails to update like TUG does.

No need to send emails, I'm right here reading this.

I'm thinking a good process to weed out less interested members is each year to require anyone who has had a free membership for more than 3 years to re-sign up. By forcing them to take a definite action to keep belonging, we should only get those who are still interested in exchanging. I think I will do that at year end, and that should help.

One problem for sure with non-responses is that some people have spam filters that filter out email from people not in their address book, and they dont realize they should check for (or dont know how to check for) emails marked mistakenly as spam. So some failures-to-reply are surely do to the limited computer skills of many timesharers.

Annecdotally, I've always received responses to my inquiries through ownertrades, though as of yet the stars have not aligned on a successful exchange, likely due to my always reserving specific weeks in advance of any contact. I'll experiment with being more flexible this year utilizing our 2008 intervals, offering to book to order, and see what happens.

Thanks for the reminder; I forgot to re-up in January...
