So at palm aire they told me my room key was only good for a day and I’d need to come back to get my keys updated and get the wristbands and parking passes.

I never even picked them up. Room key kept working.

Don’t room keys work for everything anyways?

Has anybody ever seen a car towed for not having a pass?

Wondering if I should just not bother picking them up in the future and saving myself the headache

I tried that at Ocean Walk a few months back and the key card did not work the next day. I had to go back down and get the wristbands. They key in the dates for the cards and wristbands to work, as well as, the elevator for PR floors at Bonnet Creek (and probably some other resorts). So, no, room keys don’t always work for everything. They have to be programmed with the correct dates of your stay and for each purpose.

Keep your wristband from a previous stay and ask the check-in people to program them for your room. I've never had them not do this for me. Some properties the room key is only good for 24 hours and they have gotten into the habit of just giving you ONE room key at checkin, vs one for every guest.

That won't stop them from calling you usually, but you won't have to deal with them.

Regarding the parking pass, at least at resorts which still do this, it's usually mandatory. Pretty much any resort which has a guard gate, you have to have a parking pass. Also at some resorts, in theory if you dont have one they could tow you. This is especially important at "shared use" properties...

What you should do is just go to the wristband police and tell them no... stand up for yourself.

Last time I did an update, I told the salesperson I prefer the "boomer method" of acquiring points where I buy a resale deed at a low maintenance fee location from some older person who bought it without doing their research on the internet first. After that, I haven't been asked to do updates anymore. The last two check ins had no issues.

Just say NO to the update, and Yes to the Wrist Band. Some places that have parking issues do looks for parking permits, but a few that I stayed at recently, namely worldmarks stopped using them. (Marble Falls stopped, but New Braunfels did not, However we had a member of our party that did not actually bring their parking pass to the car, and nothing happened with it. )

Austin you use your key card to get into the parking garage, so no pass. Riverside Suites you have to get the pass from the parking lot down the block, so again to parking pass.)

I have stayed at a bunch of locations, and have NOT been forced into any update. Just say I'm not obligated and I'm not interested. End of it.
