Just curious if anyone will be a buyer when it goes public. I remember Google when it went public. For non insiders like myself I remember it was $100 a share. It has hit $600 as a high. I never bought it because I thought their only revenue was going to be as a search engine. Any thoughts on buying Facebook.

I missed out on Google and I'll no doubt miss out on FB as well. But then, I bought a TS so what do I know?:p

I have two major issues with their revenue model.

#1 - Half of the users are logging in monthly are via mobile and there is zero revenue stream from mobile. If they begin polluting the mobile segment with ads, due to the decreased screen real estate, I think it'll have a negative impact.

#2 - 11% of their current revenue stream comes from Zynga, which is online games played through FB. I don't know whether or not that is going to be sustainable.

Hot IPO's lately have fizzled (Groupon for example) so it'll be interesting to how the market reacts to this one. I think you'll see a lot of early buyers who short the stock before it starts its drop.

Facebook - it that something to do with the electric internet?

It will only take one class action suit over privacy issues to cost them a fortune.

Only to quickly flip (i.e. gambling money). If you want in on Facebook before the IPO, there are VC stocks that own Facebook shares.

I heard today that their earnings are much less than what the experts expected...but at least they have earnings. So its going to be bought by someone...but not me

My rule is: I wont buy stock in compainies I dont understand..and I dont understand Facebook

Facebook? I dunno....but if TUG went public? Woo Hoo!

:cheer: :cheer:

:hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:

Interesting info in the IPO filing documents regarding the risks to investors, including Mr. Zuckerberg himself.

I don't believe in its long term viability and short term I'm not that hot on it, either. Not all that keen on Management. I have continued to resist Facebook, so it also fails on the 'companies I like' screen. I don't even have to go see the risks link.

pass.

I doubt that any one of us here will be able to buy a single share before facebooks trading debut because of all the demand there will be for the facebook ipo. The ipo will probabally be over valued because of all the demand anyway.

We will soon know. Cramer says BUY BUY BUY. I think he is right.

I have no doubt that many people will jump right in. That the price may shoot up, short term, due to bandwagon, buzz and shiny newness. Some will be unsophisticated investors that simply love what Facebook has brought to their lives.

Or those who hate it but realize how addictive it is and how it's grown.

I doubt many people will even get a shot. With this much notice, and being so high profile the limited number's will ONLY go to those privileged enought to have the option. Of course, meaning the rich get richer!

or, the rich get taken in by a flash in a pan. :ignore:

I bought into google, and before that yahoo. I made a stellar return on both. I will also buy shares of FB with the right opportunity.

The old saying "it takes $$$ to earn $$$" will keep me from buying LOL. I work for a Ford dealership and awhile back when GM and Chrysler filed bankruptsy, Ford stock was at about $2 a share. As soon as we heard about the other big 2 going bankrupt we all joked we should sell everything we own and buy Ford stock. Turns out it would have been a great idea. Ford went as high as $19 a share or so. Now is back down to $12. wish I had some spare $$ playing the market looks like fun LOL!
