I was very pleased to get a call from SFX the other day, offering a 2 BR July week in Solvang. I didn't even realize there WAS a timeshare in Solvang. It includes July 4, which is even better.

We love the area, and try to spend a day in Solvang when we use our annual week in Ventura, so we're looking forward to that. I do love SFX!:cheer:

Worldmark Solvang is real nice. I stayed there last month. It is located very close, within walking distance to the Town center where all the little shops/stores are. The two bedroom units there either have two twin beds or a queen in the 2nd bedroom. I am a Worldmark member, and there is a lot of availability right now for that week, all unit types...

Pleasant Location

We stayed there three or four years ago and are also Worldmark owners.
We used it as a home base and spent several days walking the town, eating, and relaxing. We would take drives and visit in Santa Barbara (did the tour bus there and enjoyed it).
Drove also to San Luis Obisbo and ate at Fireside (I think that is the name of it) and had the best tri-tip sandwhich I have ever had. We actually went there twice because the food was so tasty.

It's good to hear that it's as nice as it looks.
We lived in Morro Bay many years ago, and still love the entire Central Coast.
Next time you're up as far as San Luis, hop on up to the Embarcadero in Morro bay and try the beef dips at The Hofbrau. They are the best...but beware the horseradish! Handle with care. LOL!

Old home week! :)

I taught sailing at Morro Bay Yacht Club one summer and spent about half my income at The Hofbrau every day for lunch. They would let me take my plate with my French dip sandwich back to the club and the next day I would exchange my plate for a new one. As I understand it the Hofbrau is closed or moved or something- apparently some small town drama there.

I don't love Solvang so much any more (everything is just more plasticy and less craftsmany than it was when I was a kid, but a few years ago at least there was still a miniature horse farm outside of town where you could stop and visit... I always got a kick out of that. And then there are some true California small towns outside of Solvang, like Santa Ynez and Ballard.

I grew up in Arroyo Grande near Lopez Lake...

What fun! I loved Morro Bay, and the whole Central Coast area SO much. As the Nat'l Geographic labled it in a long ago article, it is "The Middle Kingdom" of California.
If my DH hadn't made such a silly fuss about the fog, we'd still be there.
We do plan to explore the area, as much as we can.
We used to have friends in Arroyo Grande & Oceano .
You taught sailing? Cool. We cruised for 13 mos. in our 44' Spencer sailboat, but that was in another lifetime. LOL!
