Wonder what to do with leftover Abound Points

Out of curiosity, if you have about 180 Abound Points, what will you do with it?

In prior years, I had leftover SO, paid Vistana to extend it. It was less than 2k points if I remember correctly. It came in handy when booking the next year.

But 180 points is so little. I guess just leaving it to expire may be the better option, since we are unable to combine points with cash, or giveaway/sell these points.

Just curious how others are handling it.

In Abound there is no cost to bank the points for however long you're allowed to bank them (12, 18, or 24 months depending on your benefit level). If you have any other points in the future years and will be making a reservation while they are good, it makes sense to bank them.

By the way, you are also allowed to give away or sell the points, again with no cost. You cannot transfer points that have already been banked and I believe once they are transferred the recipient cannot bank them. There are a couple of websites set up by Tuggers as places where you can either rent in or rent out Abound (formerly vacation club) points. It's worth looking through the Marriott forum to learn about these aspects of Abound as they have 12-13 years of run time with it already.

Oh wow. I had no idea. Thanks a lot. I will lurk there for some knowledge.

It really depends upon their original expiration date and how you acquired them as to what you can do with them. Are they all from one contract? Did you elect them or are they trust points or ones you received as a bonus? Lots of factors to consider to give you an idea of what you can do with them.

They are from 2023. Just converted from SO to Abound. I did not inherit them is my guess. I’m a complete newbie to this Marriott points game.

That would buy you a weekday night in the fall at Westin Kierland (about 150 pts for a small 1 bdrm), or the California Desert Properties

Depending on your tier you could bank them into 2024. I believe owner and select level cut of was the 7th July due to 'system problems'. If you are a higher level you can still bank.
If not it may still he worth a try due to the 'system glitches' but try online and ringing.

If you can still bank them, bank. As mentioned, if you are past, I'd give them a call and see if they'll bank them due to "system glitches"

If you plan to exchange into Abound next year, you can do so now and borrow points and combine for short trip this year. (if they can't be banked)

You can try to rent them out on vacationpointexchange
