We've been meaning to ask this - does anyone know if the trees in front of the buildings are the same or is there more trees in front of one side than the other? If you get 5th or 6th floor OF the trees won't affect the view but we are wondering if you make your reservation further out and are stuck with a lower floor if one side is preferable over the other? Interestingly the Starwood brochure makes it look like the trees are less dense on the side next to the park but in the actual photo showing the front of the resort it actually looks like the side next to WKORV North has many more trees. Does anyone know or if someone is actually at WKORV could you take a look and tell us so we can add to our room request since this year we did not book 12 months out and are concerned about it. Thanks :)

I have photos from Nov that I can look at. We stayed in B3 (south) overlooking the park.
The 4th floor is also not a problem. The 3rd floor a bit more. We stayed on the 2nd floor - looks at tree tops. I recall the trees being more dense in front of B2. The trees were definitely denser in front of WKORV-N, but I hear have been trimmed. These trees drop brutal thorns - my brother stepped on one taking photos of WKORV-N.

PS - I don't have photos of the front of B2 only B3.

Here are pictures of the trees in front of each building:

WKORV Trees

I think Bldg. 2 has less obstructed views, because the Kaeve trees are further from the building.

Thank you so much for the info. and pictures Denise. My niece stayed in Bld.3 on the studio side OF, 4th floor, last June and when I saw her photos I remember thinking what a huge difference there was in the view we had had on the 6th floor of Bldg. 2. In her pictures which were straight out at the ocean you can see the ocean over the tree tops but the trees significantly lessened the OF view from that angle. Her photos at a side angle were still really nice but sitting inside the unit you look out at the top of trees with the ocean beyond that. Wouldn't mind it so much if it was palm trees but those trees are really kind of ugly-they just don't look like they're supposed to be there (which I think someone else mentioned really aren't-they were brought by missionaries to make the natives wear shoes cuz they drop thorns...based on that alone I'd want to chop them down if I was Hawaiian! :)

This Sunday we drove by the Westin resort to see how far along the new buildings are and what view they will have because of the Keawe trees that cannot be removed. The view seems OK to me but the trees are severely trimmed. They are so beautiful when they are dense which they still are further down the beach.

Here are the pictures I took and of the new construction too. There are many condos built and I wonder if that will make exchanging to Maui easier for everyone? Other resorts are building more timeshare condos and the Hyatt may start building soon too.
